Hi, I'm having some problems with my computer. It goes very, very, very slow and freezes a lot. I get the "not responding" thing from a lot of programs. I plan on getting it fully checked out and probably reformatted in the near future---but would really like to try and see if I can get help here first. Thank you so much!!!

Here is my hijack this log...

Also, when running tuneup utilities---the thing where i can choose what starts up when i start my computer, it said that it found a "potentially dangerous" one called Intel Common User Interface module ---I don't know how to delete this though, or where to delete it. I'm computer dumb. :)

Hi Shari,
Your HJT log is not showing where the problem is.
Lets look at it in another way:

Download WinPFind35U.exe to your Desktop and double-click on it to extract the files. It will create a folder named WinPFind35u on your desktop.
  • Close any open browsers.
  • Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of WinpFind35U.

    -----------------------------------------------------------

    • Very Important! Temporarily disable your anti-virus, script blocking and any anti-malware real-time protection before performing a scan. They can interfere with WinpFind35U or remove some of its embedded files which may cause "unpredictable results".
    • Click on this link to see a list of programs that should be disabled. The list is not all inclusive. If yours is not listed and you don't know how to disable it, please ask.

      -----------------------------------------------------------

  • Open the WinPFind3u folder and double-click on WinPFind3U.exe to start the program.
  • Now click the Run Scan button on the toolbar.
  • The program will be scanning huge amounts of data so depending on your system it could take a long time to complete. Let it run unhindered until it finishes.
  • When the scan is complete Notepad will open with the report file loaded in it.
  • Save that notepad file
Use the Reply button and attach the notepad file here (Do not copy and paste in a reply, rather attach it to it).

If you have any problem running this let me know.
Be advised, my replies may be delayed, I have to travel this week coming (work)

Harry

I just ran the scan, but I don't know how to attach it. I don't have any option to do that here... any suggestions?

Hey there,
its simple to save it and attach it

When the scan is complete Notepad will open with the report file loaded in it.
Save that notepad file

Save the file somewhere familiar, like your desktop. Make a note where you saved it. Open a reply to me here, down the bottom use the browse button to find that file and upload as an attachment :)

I don't see anywhere where it says browse. My view doesn't look like it should, I don't think. It's very basic... I don't know if I'm not seeing the full website page or whatever...you know? But no where does it say browse.

Ok Shari,
skip that one and do this:
Please download Deckard's System Scanner (DSS) and save it to your Desktop.
  • Close all other windows before proceeding.
  • Double-click on dss.exe and follow the prompts.
  • When it has finished, dss will open two Notepads main.txt and extra.txt -- please copy (CTRL+A and then CTRL+C) and paste (CTRL+V) the contents of main.txt and extra.txt in your next reply.

Hey Shari,
I didn't see much in the log that would create a problem there, to be sure lets run this:
Download ComboFix from one of the locations below, and save it to your Desktop.

Link 1
Link 2
Link 3

Double click combofix.exe and follow the prompts. Please, never rename Combofix unless instructed.
When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Post that log and a HiJackthis log in your next reply
Note: Do not mouseclick combofix's window while its running. That may cause it to stall
