Hi all,

Yes im a noob here.

I read the announcements and instrustions regarding posting HJT logs and it sais that older posts are answered first.

I posted my HJT logs about 6 hours ago and my post is now in the 3rd page still unanswered. There have been many posted since mine however 7 newer posts have already been attended to and advice given. :)

Can I suggest a slight modification to the forum structure.

********************************************

New forum - Malware Removal - HijackThis™ First post Logs Go Here

Current forum - Malware Removal - HijackThis™ Logs Go Here --> Rename --> Malware Removal - HijackThis™ Under Assistance

*********************************************

Each new post goes into the new forum (First post Logs Go Here) , once a staff member replies it is then moved into the (Under Assistance) forum

Does this make sense?

Having said that, I have been thinking about applying to become Staff I will look over the requirements before submitting an Application Form.

I have managed to remove many issues from my PC (except the current one) and would like to learn more on how to do it properly.

Threads that have no replies to them can be seen [here]. If your thread hasn't been replied to within 3 days you can post in the Waiting Room, and someone will be with you ASAP.

Good luck with getting your issue sorted :).

Ok, i was not aware of the posted URL. There are quite a few older than my post that still hasnt been attended to either ..... but still dosnt explaine why at least 7 newer posts than mine have been replied to when it says at the top of the page

Do not 'bump' or reply to your topic. We look first for posts with no replies, and we start with the oldest posts and work forward. Bumping will delay a reply.

I excluded the oldest unanswered thread as it was started Feb 15 2008, 01:29 PM http://www.geekstogo...it-t187567.html Trojan.Zonebac.... Norton wont delete it.

I started from http://www.geekstogo...us-t188549.html the thread was started Yesterday, 02:16 PM

Since that time there has been 19 threads that where started AFTER Yesterday, 02:16 PM that have been assisted.

DOES THE ABOVE REALY APPLY?

P.S. at this time .... my problem still has not been looked at. maybe, due to this thread, i will be forced to wait the maximim of 3 days before i get a responce ..... if that be the case i will count the newer threads that have been replied to again ..... anyone want to bet on the answer?

DOES THE ABOVE REALY APPLY?

I guess it's difficult for that to work exactly as said. Some helpers might have more experience with a specific infection, so they'll go to that topic first, before going to *the* oldest topic before any other one. You have to remember that someone *will* get to you eventually, even though it might be 3 or 4 days.

It very much depends on the helper. If the system is one they are not familiar with (Vista e.g) or there is no apparent infection they may pass on it to one where they can see an infection. Or it may be that there is no information just a log maybe or a few sentences saying I have a problem.

Notwithstanding that it is very rare that when a log is posted in the waiting it is not answered within 24 hours . All the helpers here are taking time out from there real lives so some may just check the first 2 pages or so for unanswered logs due to time constraints (not to forget time zones as we are global). Plus each helper generally runs 10 to 20 logs at a time, there are so many variables it is impossible to state them all. But we try to answer as many as we can :)

Thank you for the feedback. You are very observant, and we do appreciate your concern.

This topic has been addressed here and in other forums many times. In fact, it's so common that we have an order of replies thread in our FAQ forum.

We've been at this for quite a while, and we've developed methods that work best for everyone. Rather than provide a complete explanation that would probably just confuse most visitors, we keep it simple in the text that you've copied. The fact remains that your best chance of receiving a reply is one with zero or very few replies. Continually bumping a topic to keep it on the first page may likely lead to it being missed or ignored. Most of what we do relies on the ability of the person being helped to follow instructions. Read the link above for more reasons.

Regarding your post specifically, you don't provide a lot of information (the more the better). You posted a screenshot of some registry entries from VGA. I assume you mean AVG? VGA also in your topic title. You also don't specify if you're currently experiencing any issues that would help to identify an issue. The most difficult malware posts to respond, are not one's showing a nasty infection. They're the one's that appear clean, or that may only have harmless registry entries, or other scraps that can still be detected by some anti-malware applications.

Give your post a couple of more days, and post a topic in the waiting room forum (only visible to members) if needed. Don't worry about other topics getting replies first. If you'd like to be a part of this process, and enjoy helping others, we look forward to having you join GeekU .:)
