I made the following mistake:
On Feb. 4th downloaded “SpyHunter’s Free SpyGuard Pro Scanner”. It has found 18 infections and offered to remove them if I would purchase the program for $29.99. – Didn’t buy and uninstalled “SpyHunter”. Restarted the computer.
Started to get popup’s:
“Undesired files Detected on your Hard Disk, Clean it Now.”
“System Notification: Impossible to continue”
[Download and Clean]
Windows security Alert:
“Your computer might be at risk, click here to install antivirus software”
MS Visual C++ Runtime Library:
“Program: C:\program files\IE\iexplore.exe
This application has requested the runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Contact application support team for more information.
“Time to die…etc.
Also when I start up the computer,” and open IE to a URL, lately a second IE window opens up wanting to take me to a download site. To close the second IE window, I need to use: Ctrl-Alt-Delete. I can than go to a new IE and the newly selected URL.
The computer also reported a:
“SysFader:iexplore.exe Application Error”
I believe that I have followed the required steps and Downloaded:
ATF Cleaner – “AVG Anti-Spyware” Scan completed: Nothing found. SUPERAntiSpyware Home Edition: Scanning is complete, no harmful software was detected.
Panda Software activescan:
1 Dialer – C:\Windows\pcconfig.dat The scan froze.
Norton 360 stopped working and asked to be reinstalled.
I unistalled “AVG Anti-Spyware”, SUPERAntiSpyware Home Edition and Norton 360. Than reinstalled Norton 360 and the new SpyBot 1.5.2
Norton 360 scans reports:
Malware Alert.
Trojan Adware “W32.ExpDwnldr” AvSystemCare, Downloader, SpyShredder, Spyware detected, but doesn’t remove it.
Also, at times, Norton’s pop-up’s state that it is “Processing Threats”
Please help. I’m beyond being frustrated. THANK YOU.
