Hi Pieter,

I have deleted C:\Windows\qkcrxvibs.exe using Killbox as you suggested and I have had no warnings from Ewido yet....touch wood.

What other steps are required to ensure my system has been completely cleaned??

Your help is greatly apprecieted and WILL be rewarded :tazz: ;)

Not great news I'm afraid, came back to my PC after going out this mornig and when I returned I had an Ewido warning saying it had detceted an infected process.

After clicking 'clean' another warning window appeared with a different process. In total there were about 8.

Here are the process it detected....

efefe.exe
sefer.exe
pro2.exe
tool.exe
efvefefe.exe
video2.exe

Thanks again,

Geo

Can you post a new HijackThis log and let me know how Ewido calls the infected processes?

Is your Windows firewall enabled?

Windows Firewall is on and XP is fully updated.

In the screens it says behind infection: the official name of the malware.
Since very many use random filenames it's hard for us to know what's what.

I don't see anything bad running. Can Ewido remove the infection?

Also fix this one:
O16 - DPF: {FF3F0F03-0F01-131A-A3F9-08F02B23E0CC} - http://66.117.37.13/gbn1742.exe

That looks like it could be a dialer.

Regards,

Pieter

Ok next time Ewido detects something I'll make a note of the other information for you :tazz:

In the Ewido window I can choose what action to perform, obviously I choose 'clean' and I click OK and it cleans the process.

My pleasure. ;)

Using an uninstaller made by people spreading this sort of cr@p doesn't make much sense.

NO warnings from Ewido yet - typical hey??

I saw the advert for Spy Sweeper on this site and my friend said it was pretty good so am running a scan at the moment, seems to have picked quite a few things up so far.

Will post the logfile from that when it's done,

Geo

Download the RKFiles.zip from here:
http://skads.org/special/rkfiles.zip

Create a new folder called c:\Antispyware\RKFiles
Extract the contents of RKFiles.zip into this new RKFiles folder.

1. Reboot into Safe Mode

2. Open the C:\Antispyware\RKFiles folder
* Locate and double-click the RKFILES.BAT to run this tool.
* Sit back and wait untill its finished.
* When it is finally finished a text file will open.
* Save the contents of that text file.

Note: It should save by default to C:\Log.txt

3. Reboot back to Normal Mode.

4. Post the log
