Welcome to the forum, Helengee

Open your printer driver software and first run the 'nozzle check' feature which will show if there are any blockages in the ink nozzles. If there are, run canon printer cleaning utility -- if 'normal' cleaning mode deosn't clear the blockage try the 'deep cleaning' mode. This will unavoidably deplete your ink levels but if it clears the blockage at least the ink hasn't been wasted as such.
