i download in install it in then i ran it and it will open then say i need to insert the cd-rom what do i do

Where did you get it from? Some applications employ an anti-piracy copy-protection feature so copied discs can't be used. It also means you need the genuine disc containing the application or it won't run.

Alternatively, some applications only install few essential files on to the hard disk, leaving the rest on the CD. This saves wasting space on the hard drive but it also means you need to have the program's CD in the drive when you want to run it. So if you downloaded that application using a filesharing service or from a 'warez' site it's no good. You need to buy a legal copy of the program on a CD.
