Well, I am still unable to delete the file and I still receive the error message at start up. And the computer is running like garbage - very lethargic.

Go ahead and uninstall
Malwarebytes Anti-Malware
and
SUPERAntiSpyware
=======================
  • Click START then RUN
  • Now type Combofix /u in the runbox and click OK

  • Posted Image

The above procedure will delete and do the following:

  • ComboFix and its associated files and folders.
  • VundoFix backups, if present
  • The C:\Deckard folder, if present
  • The C:_OtMoveIt folder, if present
  • Reset the clock settings.
  • Hide file extensions, if required.
  • Hide System/Hidden files, if required.
  • Clean System Restore points.

Also delete\uninstall anything that we used that is left over.
=============================================
Now when you say that F8 doesn't work for you do you mean that the F8 key on your keyboard doesn't work or that when you press F8 it doesn't put you directly into Safe Mode.?
Because when you say you saw this

For troubleshooting and advanced startup options for Windows, press F8

then you would press F8 and then you would be presented with the Safe Mode Option.
Try that and let me know how it goes.
If you can then get into Safe Mode then try again to delete the file.

Alright, I'm an idiot. My keyboard has an F-lock key that needed to be depressed to utilize F8. I ran in safe mode but the file did not show up. I deleted the incomplete file entirely and upon start up in normal mode it was still there with the file.

Additionally, when I type in ComboFix /u it says Windows cannot find the file.

Ok.
I am going to remove the entire folder and you can recreate it after it is gone.
==================================================

Please download the OTMoveIt2 by OldTimer.
  • Save it to your desktop.
  • Please double-click OTMoveIt2.exe to run it. (Vista users, please right click on OTMoveit2.exe and select "Run as an Administrator")
  • Copy the file paths below to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose Copy):

    C:\Documents and Settings\HP_Administrator\My Documents\Incomplete
  • Return to OTMoveIt2, right click in the "Paste List of Files/Folders to be Moved" window (under the light blue bar) and choose Paste.
  • Click the red Moveit! button.
  • OTMoveit2 will create a log of moved files in the C:\_OTMoveIt\MovedFiles folder. The log's name will appear as the date and time it was created, with the format mmddyyyy_hhmmss.log. Open this log in Notepad and post its contents in your next reply.
  • Close OTMoveIt2
If a file or folder cannot be moved immediately you may be asked to reboot the machine to finish the move process. If you are asked to reboot the machine choose Yes.
===============
It is ok about combofix don't worry with it for now.

Thanks again for your time.

Here's the log:

C:\Documents and Settings\HP_Administrator\My Documents\Incomplete moved successfully.

OTMoveIt2 v1.0.20 log created on 03062008_113305

Operations are still very slow, especially the internet.

Also, last night I received the following messages:

Service and Controller app has encountered a problem and needs to close
Details are:
The instruction at "0x01008e40" referenced memory at "0x0c07fb1b". The memory could not be read.

Then I get:

The system process 'C WINDOWS \system32\services.exe' terminated unexpectedly with status code - 1073741819
Details are:
Error signature
szAppName:services.exe
szAppVer: 5.1.2600.2180
szModName:services.exe
szModVer: 5.1.2600.2180 offset: 00008e40

And then my computer shuts down.

I did a system restore and that remedied the situation, but it seems as though operations have been increasingly sluggish.

* Click here to download HJTsetup.exe
  • Save HJTsetup.exe to your desktop.
  • Doubleclick on the HJTsetup.exe icon on your desktop.
  • By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\Hijack This.
  • Click on I agree
  • Then Click on the Do a system scan and save a logfile button. It will scan and the log should open in notepad.
  • Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.
  • Come back here to this thread and Paste the log in your next reply.
  • DO NOT have Hijack This fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

My internet is working at full speed again! I am unable to delete the Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware file from program files, though.

Great did you uninstall it first?
If so then you will have to reboot for it to remove what is left let me know and we will go from there?

Yes, I uninstalled the program first and rebooted, even tried in safe mode but I can't delete Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware. I am also unable to delete the SmitFraudFix folder.

1. Please open Notepad
  • Click Start , then Run
  • type in notepad in the Run Box then hit ok.

2. Now copy/paste the entire content of the codebox below into the Notepad window:

Folder::
C:\SDFix
C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
C:\Documents and Settings\HP_Administrator\Desktop\SmitfraudFix
Registry::
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\security center\Monitoring]
"DisableMonitoring"=dword:00000000
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\security center\Monitoring\SymantecAntiVirus]
"DisableMonitoring"=dword:000000010
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\security center\Monitoring\SymantecFirewall]
"DisableMonitoring"=dword:00000000
[HKLM\~\services\sharedaccess\parameters\firewallpolicy\standardprofile]
"EnableFirewall"=dword:00000001

3. Save the above as CFScript.txt

4. Then drag the CFScript.txt into ComboFix.exe as depicted in the animation below. This will start ComboFix again.

5. After reboot, (in case it asks to reboot), please post the following report/log into your next reply:Combofix.txt
