I have the antispyware..... deal going on right now, and am not the most savvy. I read one post and copied it onto a word document and printed it. Also downloaed the three/four programs that was asked of that user in the post. I don't have HijackThis or do know where to get it, and wonder if I would were I to... Looking for any help.

(change) Ok so I'm attaching The HiJack This log file. Nevermind above.

Hello jtnmich08, and welcome to Geeks to Go! . I'm currently reading over your log right now and I'll do my best to try to get your system clean :)

Since I'm still in training, there may be a slight delay between my posts because they must be checked by an expert.

Thank you so much. By the way, I missed the "read this before you post a HiJackThis log..." before I posted. I have read it now, and performed all but the Panda scan last night. System is better (background is good, no more annoying pop up warnings form the toolbar), but still trying to connect to the internet all the time... Just thought i'd give you a heads up. Thanks again

You're running a beta version of Hijackthis. You'll need the latest version:

  • Save HJTInstall.exe to your desktop.
  • Doubleclick on the HJTInstall.exe icon on your desktop.
  • By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis .
  • Click on Install.
  • It will create a HijackThis icon on the desktop.
  • Once installed, it will launch Hijackthis.
  • Click on the Do a system scan and save a logfile button. It will scan and the log should open in notepad.
  • Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.
  • Come back here to this thread and Paste the log in your next reply.
  • DO NOT have Hijackthis fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

I don't know why, but the DSS scan only resulted in a "main.txt". The first time I ran it, (before anyone asked me too: at the beginning of this thread) it came up with both. Anyway, here is the results I got from the two requested.

Thanks. I even deleted the Deckard file, re-downloaded it and ran it again, still no prompts or "extra.txt". Am I doing something wrong?

Sorry for the late reply, Easter holidays are a busy time.

Sometimes DSS produces two logs, as the infections can be too big for one text file. In the original post, you had many infections, which was seen when you ran the DSS (2 logs appeared). However, after you ran Smitfraud, a lot of those infections were removed, hence the shorter HijackThis log and only one DSS log :)

Restart your computer and as soon as it starts booting up again continuously tap F8. A menu should come up where you will be given the option to enter Safe Mode.

Please remove these entries from Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel(if present):

Internet Speed Monitor

Please note any other programs that you dont recognize in that list in your next response

Please delete these folders using Windows Explorer(if present):

C:\Program Files\QdrPack
C:\Program Files\QdrModule
C:\Program Files\QdrDrive
C:\Program Files\ISM

Reboot into Windows, and post a fresh HijackThis log and DSS log, as follows:

click on Start, click on Run
copy and paste the following in bold in the open window and then click OK
"%userprofile%\desktop\dss.exe" /config
This will open up DSS configuration
click on Check All
click Scan
DSS will now run again when finished
Please post back both logs that open in notepad
Main txt and extra txt
