Computer screen goes black

Hello I just purchased a samsung scd353 camcorder and every time I try to capture video from the camera the screen goes black. Also I cannot get clips using my usb cord. I have installed the drivers from samsung.com but nothing will work. Anyone have any suggestions?... I'm running windows xp professional.
