No, I am not redirected anymore. Any other traces of the virus? Do we need a Kaspersky scan to recheck? How do we verify we are 100% virus-free? Thanks a lot!

Because we have already ran kaspersky we will try a different one.
This is for Internet Explorer only.

Please go HERE to run Panda's TotalScan
  • Select the bubble for Full scan
  • It will start downloading the files it requires for the scan (Note: It may take a couple of minutes)
  • Then the scan will begin
  • When the scan completes, click the Save button on the right of Scan details
  • Save it to a convenient location. Post the contents of the TotalScan report

Do you suggest any precautionary measure for computer 1? (e.g. antispyware, etc.) How do I check if the flash disks I will insert in the future is infected?

To check any flash drive always scan it before using any files off of it.

For antispyware you could use Windows Defender.
It is free and will provide real time protection.

You can download it Here

==========================================
For the second computer
Please download Deckard's System Scanner (DSS) and save it to your Desktop.
  • Close all other windows before proceeding.
  • Double-click on dss.exe and follow the prompts.
  • When it has finished, dss will open two Notepads main.txt and extra.txt -- please copy (CTRL+A and then CTRL+C) and paste (CTRL+V) the contents of main.txt and extra.txt in your next reply.

I am not redirected anymore. However, after I performed the Panda Active Scan, some features of my Mozilla Firefox was lost. One of the evident changes is that when I load page of this forum , I can't see the blue headers and division boxes for forum replies. Also, when I click the fast reply, Mcaffee prompts me that a suspicious script has been performed. Another example is when I am loading Gmail in standard view. It takes a while to load and tells me to swith to basic HTML view for optimal viewing. Any idea how we can fix this? I am doubtful that the disinfection brought this defect in my browser.

UPDATE: After reinstalling my yahoo messenger, Firefox went back to normal and so with the Gmail. Unfortunately, I still can't sign in at Yahoo Messenger. It displays "New user sign-in problems" even if the password is correct. This behavior has started since the infection of the virus.

Great I am not quite sure about the Yahoo messenger thing maybe you could contact Yahoo via e-mail about it.
==========================
Please open up Notepad and copy all of the items in the code box below.
Change the "Save As Type" to "All Files". Save it as fixthis.reg on your Desktop.
Make sure there is NO blank line above "REGEDIT4"!
REGEDIT4

[-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\explorer\mountpoints2\{85af5a93-5ebf-11dc-a775-000ae435643f}]
Now double-click fixthis.reg.
A window will come up asking if you want to let it merge with the registry.
Click yes.
==============
After that merges you can delete it.

Also uninstall MalwareBytes Antimalware.

Cleanup::
  • Make sure you have an Internet Connection.
  • Double-click OTMoveIt2.exe to run it. (Vista users, please right click on OTMoveit2.exe and select "Run as an Administrator")
  • Click on the CleanUp! button
  • A list of tool components used in the Cleanup of malware will be downloaded.
  • If your Firewall or Real Time protection attempts to block OtMoveit2 to reach the Internet, please allow the application to do so.
  • Click Yes to begin the Cleanup process and remove these components, including this application.
  • You will be asked to reboot the machine to finish the Cleanup process. If you are asked to reboot the machine choose Yes.
==============
Delete or uninstall anything that is left over that we used.

Then I will need you to reset your System Restore points, please note that you will need to log into your computer with an account which has full administrator access.
You will know if the account has administrator access because you will be able to see the System Restore tab. If the tab is missing, you are logged in under a limited account.

(Windows XP)
1. Turn off System Restore.
Click on *Start
Right-click *My Computer
Click *Properties
Click the *System Restore tab
Check *Turn off System Restore
Click *Apply, and then click *OK.

2. Reboot.

3. Turn ON System Restore.
Click on *Start
Right-click *My Computer
Click *Properties
*UN-Check *Turn off System Restore*
Check *Turn on System Restore
Click *Apply, and then click *OK.

=======================================
After that Your log is clean. :)

To find out more information about how you got infected in the first place and some great guidelines to follow to prevent future infections you can read this article by Tony Klein ->Here
