I purchased on-line for in store pickup a 2.5" Scorpio 120GB 5,400RPM IDE Hard Drive
Western Digital SKU: 278259 UPC: 718037117638 Mfr Part Number: WD1200VERTL for my Dell Dimension 2400 Desktop. Will I have to return it to the store and exchange it? Or can I make it work?

Thanks,

you can get either a 2.5 inch USB enclosure for the drive or a 3.5 to 2.5 adapter to install it internally

Laptop IDEs with appropriate converter/enclosure.
Laptop SATA drives can use a normal desktop SATA cable and power adaptor. Yes, I was surprised at that too. :)
