I'm in need of help removing w32.virut-17

I've recently somehow obtained the w32.virut-17 virus. From what, I do not know.

It has been taking over my computer, stopping my executables from loading up completely and it has seemed to have attached itself in the partition where I may try a destructive system recovery, to run windows from factory shipped.

Every executable I scanned has been infected. Any way I can remove this annoyance?

Someone please help. I'm unable to start up a lot of programs that I use on a regular basis.
