I need to buy an external hard drive for my Powerbook G4, but don't know much about what is the best to buy. Are certain brands that are better to work with Mac? I need some advice! I'll just be using it to back up my files and photo's. I found some ones on Amazon that looked ok, either Lacie or Western Digital.

Is it just as easy as plugging it in and transfering, or are there lots of steps involved. I saw a lot of talk about formatting?

Please help! Thanks!

Brands make no difference, the Mac won't care whether its Western Digital, Seagate or whatever. It's all in how the drive is formatted. The Powerbook should do this for you.
