First off, If the modem is connected via USB the Ethernet light won't come on at all. Conversely, if connected via ethernet the USB light won't ever come on. So just concentrate on whichever light matches your connection-type and ignore the other one. Ethernet connections don't need a driver in Windows XP. But you do need a driver if connecting via USB. This is supplied on the BT Yahoo Broadband CD but has since been updated. You might want to try downloading the latest one from here and installing it:
