Have got 64 bit AMD Athlon 3000, ATI Radeon 9000 Graphics card, xp pro no service packs, and Acer 17 LCD Monitor AL1716, 2yr old. Worked well till 3 months ago, possibly have unknown viruses (ads, pop ups etc). Connected both Computer and Xbox 360 with appropriate leads and switch box to the monitor. The xbox still works fine however when computer is powered up it sounds as if it is starting up normally but the monitor recieves no signal. No hardware or software changes or program installs for over 6 months with the exception of the switch box which has been good for 4 months. Suspect video card is problem, don't know how to check. has anybody got any ideas

Why haven't you installed service pack 2?
XP Pro needs it.

have you tried booting into safe mode...can you get anything on the screen by going into the bios...
did you try unplugging the switch box from the monitor...

Found the prob, apparently the PSU can build up static or something over time and when you turn it off completely at its switch (and I unplugged it at the computer end to be sure). Supposedly this neatralizes or resets it or something.
Don't understand but Computer working completely as it should.
Does anyone know how it happens
Thanks for your time
