Hello all

I have a Windows XP computer..a HP Pavilion A630n to be exact. I never had any problems with the computer till now..I remember i hold the off button to turn it off instead of going to the usual start, shut down computer options.

Now when i turn on my computer, it takes me to the Safe mode, Start computer to the last working configurations, start windows normally screen...and when i click anyone of them, my computer just keeps restarting and restarting over again..and i cant even get to the log in screen...this sucks...and im sad...

please, any help is greatly appreciated

I would suggest reading this thread and following Happyrck's directions to backup your data before doing anything else:

Do you have a Windows XP CD? If not, download a iso image of the XP Recovery Console.

You don't burn the iso file itself to CD., you create a CD from the iso file using your CD burning software. There is a good freeware burner called DeepBurner which will do this. Another called ISO Recorder is also very easy to use.

Boot the CD and at the first opportunity, enter R to start the Recovery Console.
Next, choose which XP installation you want to login to. Normally this will be 1.
Lastly you will be asked for the Administrator password. Just press the Enter key as the Administrator does not have a password (unless you gave it one, then you would enter it).

From the command prompt, enter: chkdsk c: /r Let it complete undisturbed, see if that fixes it.

If not, boot the RC again and enter: fixboot, see if that fixes it.

If not, boot the RC again and enter: fixmbr, see if that fixes it.

That won't help, he can't get into Safe Mode.

How did you do a Repair Install without a XP CD?

i downloaded that RC iso image and burned it with deepburner...

i put in the cd..it took me to this black screen that says press any key to boot..then it took me to a blue screen and pressed R....then i typed in chdsks

and i let it fixed...typed exit to restart..then it boot up normally
