Hey ozzette,
that was a mess, lets get rid of all that. Please follow the directions carefully.

Open Notepad (Start, all programs, accessories, notepad)
Copy the contents of the codebox below and paste in notepad.
@echo off
rd /S "\\?\C:\recycler\nprotect"
exit
On the toolbar at the top of notepad click file, then save as.
Name the file Harry.bat, in the file type select all files.
Save this to your desktop. (Save in: Desktop)

There should be a new Icon on your desktop named Harry
Double click on that and a window will open.
Answer Y and enter.

This should clean out a bunch of files that were listed.
If you have completed this run the Panda scan again, if the log is a lot smaller post it.

Let me know if there are any problems with this

Harry,

That cleared up everything almost. Also, I have been thinking about what you asked about Feb. 21 and that was quite a while ago. I reformatted my disk and reinstalled the original software. It was running slow as a snail and I came to you guys and I was told my logs were clean. I got disgusted with it and just reformatted. So, I think that is what you were looking for. It has been running pretty good until the last 2 days. I have had 2 popups again and am having some trouble with things freezing up, etc. Anyway, here is the cleaned up log you asked for.

Things look good there, and unless there are other issues I believe you are good to go.

Written by one of the best, check out the recommended prevention methods HERE

The following is a list of tools and utilities that I like to suggest to people. This list is full of great tools and utilities to help you understand how you got infected and how to keep from getting infected again.
  • ATF Cleaner by Atribune.
This program is for XP and Windows 2000 only
This is a great program for cleaning all those temporary files that reside on your machine
  • Windows Updates - It is very important to make sure that both Internet Explorer and Windows are kept current with the latest critical security patches from Microsoft. To do this just start Internet Explorer and select Tools > Windows Update, and follow the online instructions from there.
  • Google Toolbar - Free google toolbar that allows you to use the powerful Google search engine from the bar, but also blocks pop up windows.
  • Trillian or Miranda-IM - These are Malware free Instant Messenger programs which allow you to connect to multiple IM services in one program! (AOL, Yahoo, ICQ, IRC, MSN)
To find out more information about how you got infected in the first place and some great guidelines to follow to prevent future infections you can read this article by Tony Klein

Any other questions or problems feel free to ask,
and thanks for using Geeks to Go. :)
