Hi jbraves17

welcome to geekstogo :)

sorry to keep you waiting. lets do a deeper scan of your machine for me to analyse.

(if your problem has already been resolved, could you just let me know so that i an move onto other logs to help others, thanks)

Please download Deckard's System Scanner (DSS) and save it to your Desktop.
  • Close all other windows before proceeding.
  • Double-click on dss.exe and follow the prompts.
  • When it has finished, dss will open two Notepads main.txt and extra.txt -- please copy (CTRL+A and then CTRL+C) and paste (CTRL+V) the contents of main.txt and extra.txt in your next reply.

you may need to post the logs over 2 replies to ensure all the information is posted.

i can see some trojans, a vundo infection and some of the issues around your task manager. however, there are also signs of a smitfraud infection on your machine which we will tackle first.

also, the infections you have have disabled your security programs, so could you keep your online browsing to a minimum until we have cleared this up. i estimate that this will take at least 8 posts from me to do, possibly more.

firstly, do you know what this address is? is it your ISP? or company?
UkrTeleGroup Ltd., Mechnikova 58/5, 65029 Odessa, Ukraine.

secondly:

Please download SmitfraudFix (by S!Ri) to your Desktop.

Double-click SmitfraudFix.exe
Select option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press "Enter"; a text file will appear, which lists infected files (if present).
Please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply.

**If the tool fails to launch from the Desktop, please move SmitfraudFix.exe directly to the root of the system drive (usually C:), and launch from there.

Note : process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky) as a "RiskTool"; it is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes. Antivirus programs cannot distinguish between "good" and "malicious" use of such programs, therefore they may alert the user.
http://www.beyondlog...processutil.htm

in your next reply could i see:
1. the answer to the address question
2. the smitfraud log

Hi Andrew,

1. My ISP is located in Price, Utah, U.S.A. I have no idea what that address is.

2. Here is the requested log. ( While the log was running, I received a windows popup that stated that registry editing was disabled by the administrator)

looks like your machine does have the smitfraud infection, so in this post we will remove it.

====STEP 1====
Please re-open HiJackThis and scan. Check the boxes next to all the entries listed below.

O7 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System, DisableRegedit=1
O7 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System, DisableRegedit=1
O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{0E2ACDC5-7D88-4033-9FD9-6121797BDAD0}: NameServer = 85.255.114.34,85.255.112.9
O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{D19099B4-3818-489C-8F1F-2CC39FCBEECF}: NameServer = 85.255.114.34,85.255.112.9
O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{E2E3DD75-AF7D-44F3-8DDC-7A08954AC092}: NameServer = 85.255.114.34,85.255.112.9
O17 - HKLM\System\CS1\Services\Tcpip\Parameters: NameServer = 85.255.114.34 85.255.112.9
O17 - HKLM\System\CS1\Services\Tcpip\..\{0E2ACDC5-7D88-4033-9FD9-6121797BDAD0}: NameServer = 85.255.114.34,85.255.112.9
O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\Parameters: NameServer = 85.255.114.34 85.255.112.9

Now close all windows other than HiJackThis, then click Fix Checked. Close HiJackThis.

====STEP 2====
You should print out these instructions, or copy them to a NotePad file for reading while in Safe Mode, because you will not be able to connect to the Internet to read from this site.

Next, please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following :
  • Restart your computer
  • After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;
  • Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu with options should appear;
  • Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press "Enter".
  • Choose your usual account.
Once in Safe Mode, double-click on SmitfraudFix.exe
Select option #2 - Clean by typing 2 and press "Enter" to delete infected files.

You will be prompted : "Registry cleaning - Do you want to clean the registry ?"; answer "Yes" by typing Y and press "Enter" in order to remove the Desktop background and clean registry keys associated with the infection.

The tool will now check if wininet.dll is infected. You may be prompted to replace the infected file (if found); answer "Yes" by typing Y and press "Enter".

The tool may need to restart your computer to finish the cleaning process; if it doesn't, please restart it into Normal Windows.
A text file will appear onscreen, with results from the cleaning process; please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply.
The report can also be found at the root of the system drive, usually at C:\rapport.txt

Warning : running option #2 on a non infected computer will remove your Desktop background.

In your next reply could i see:
1. the rapport.txt log
2. a new hijackthis log

and another tool to run in safe mode......

Download SDFix and save it to your Desktop.

Double click SDFix.exe and it will extract the files to %systemdrive%
(Drive that contains the Windows Directory, typically C:\SDFix)

Please then reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following :
  • Restart your computer
  • After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;
  • Instead of Windows loading as normal, the Advanced Options Menu should appear;
  • Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press Enter.
  • Choose your usual account.
  • Open the extracted SDFix folder and double click RunThis.bat to start the script.
  • Type Y to begin the cleanup process.
  • It will remove any Trojan Services and Registry Entries that it finds then prompt you to press any key to Reboot.
  • Press any Key and it will restart the PC.
  • When the PC restarts the Fixtool will run again and complete the removal process then display Finished, press any key to end the script and load your desktop icons.
  • Once the desktop icons load the SDFix report will open on screen and also save into the SDFix folder as Report.txt
    (Report.txt will also be copied to Clipboard ready for posting back on the forum).
  • Finally paste the contents of the Report.txt back on the forum with a new HijackThis log

Please download FixWareout from here:
http://downloads.sub.../Fixwareout.exe

Save it to your desktop and run it. Click Next, then Install, make sure "Run fixit" is checked and click Finish.
The fix will begin; follow the prompts. If your firewall gives an alert, (because this tool will download an additional file from the internet), please don't let your firewall block it, but allow it instead.
Then you will be asked to reboot your computer; please do so. Your system may take longer than usual to load; this is normal.
Once the desktop loads please post the text that will open (report.txt) and a new Hijackthis log

in your next reply could i see:
1. the report.txt log
2. a new hijackthis log

Andrew,

Quick question. I ran fixwareout, and rebooted. I waited over 60 minutes for the desktop to load, but nothing. Is this normal? Seems like it should not take that long.

thanks

Please download ComboFix from Here or Here to your Desktop.

**Note: In the event you already have Combofix, this is a new version that I need you to download. It is important that it is saved directly to your desktop**
  • Please, never rename Combofix unless instructed.
  • Close any open browsers.
  • Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.

    -----------------------------------------------------------

    • Very Important! Temporarily disable your anti-virus, script blocking and any anti-malware real-time protection before performing a scan. They can interfere with ComboFix or remove some of its embedded files which may cause "unpredictable results".
    • Click on this link to see a list of programs that should be disabled. The list is not all inclusive. If yours is not listed and you don't know how to disable it, please ask.

      -----------------------------------------------------------

    • Close any open browsers.
    • WARNING: Combofix will disconnect your machine from the Internet as soon as it starts
    • Please do not attempt to re-connect your machine back to the Internet until Combofix has completely finished.
    • If there is no internet connection after running Combofix, then restart your computer to restore back your connection.

    -----------------------------------------------------------

  • Double click on combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
  • When finished, it will produce a report for you.
  • Please post the "C:\ComboFix.txt" along with a new HijackThis log for further review.
**Note: Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it's running. That may cause it to stall**
