Lately i have been getting pop ups every so often from the same sites while using Internet explorer and mozilla (as far as i know). Also, all internet sites seem to freeze and lag when first opening up, like say i am on Yahoo!, and i click on their sports page, it will get to the sports page, but it will freeze for 10-20 seconds until i can finally scroll or click on other items on the page. This is not normal, along with the pop ups. I never received pop ups or this delay after going to a page previous to this problem.

Also, whether related to this or not, every so often everything on the desktop disappears, including desktop icons, the start bar, and the blue bar at the bottom, just leaving the background wallpaper. This has never occured until just a few days ago. I have ran virus scans, cleaned cookies, temp internet files, cleared history, everything I could but it still occurs every day.

I have no clue why such a thing would occur. Perhaps somebody can send me in the right direction.

some of the sites of the popups are:

and often will one site then go to a different site, such as the credit card one to the dating site, automatically.

Please let me know what I can try to do to stop one or both of these problems. And I have hijackthis downloaded, so let me know if i need to give a log. If you need more information, please ask!
Thank you very much in advance! :)

Sounds like your browser has been hijacked. Go to the Malware Forum and run all the steps located in the START HERE. These self-help tools will help you clean up 70% of problems on your own. If you are still having problems after doing the steps, then please post a HiJackThis Log in THAT forum. If you are unable to run and/or post a HJT log, then post that in your initial post in the topic you create in that forum.

If you are still having problems after being given a clean bill of health from the malware expert, then please return to THIS thread and we will pursue other options to help you solve your current problem(s).
