Hello,

I've recently purchased a Freeagent seagate 500GB USB portable hard drive and im using it to store my files on to save space on my internal hard drive as its not so big. I was wondering if there is a programme that you could recommend that can put a password/encryption on the hard drive so I can only be accessed by myself. Any recommendations would be great.

Do you know if its free and will it stop data being stolen if it's unplugged from my computer and plugged into another computer in the case of theft ?

Just downloaded and finished encrypting a folder using the programme you recommened http://www.truecrypt.org/ so simple and it did all that I wanted it todo and more. I have just finished listening to the pod cast with Steve Gibson and Leo Laporte and Truecrypt sounds like a truly amazing piece of software and I can not get over the fact that it's free.
