Hi,

Every time I try to open Internet Explorer, a command prompt box pops up and closes quickly. It feels like I triggered something since I get command
prompt boxes popping up and closing quickly at random times only after trying to open I.E.

I had to use firefox to get here and follow that guide. I also removed the symantec programs that are obsolete and hog system resources.

Unfortunately it did not solve the issues, so I am asking for some expert help here.

Please download Deckard's System Scanner (DSS) and save it to your Desktop.

• Close all other windows before proceeding.

• When it has finished, dss will open two Notepads main.txt and extra.txt -- please copy (CTRL+A and then CTRL+C) and paste (CTRL+V) the contents of main.txt and extra.txt in your next reply.

The fix should only take a very short time. When the fix is completed a message box will popup telling you that it is finished. Click the Ok button and Notepad will open with a log of actions taken during the fix. Post that information back here along with a new Hijackthis log .

Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.

• Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
• If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
• Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
• The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
• When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
• Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
• When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart.(See Extra Note)
• The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
• Copy&Paste the entire report in your next reply.

Hmm well we look to have cleared the malware. MBAM killed the orphan registry entries

So lets now look to see if I can find out what your IE problem is

Download and Install - if the problem re-occurs

THEN

Please RIGHT-CLICK HERE and Save As (in IE it's "Save Target As", in FF it's "Save Link As") to download Silent Runners.

• Save it to the desktop.
• Run Silent Runner's by doubleclicking the "Silent Runners" icon on your desktop.
• You will receive a prompt:
  
  • Do you want to skip supplementary searches?
    click NO
• If you receive an error just click OK and double-click it to run it again - sometimes it won't run as it's supposed to the first time but will in subsequent runs.
• You will see a text file appear on the desktop - it's not done, let it run (it won't appear to be doing anything!)
• Once you receive the prompt All Done!, open the text file on the desktop, copy that entire log, and paste it here.
