Hi everyone and thanks in advance for the help. My computer was fine until about a week ago. I downloaded a couple programs so my Windows Media Player would work properly because it wouldn't play my videos. Windows Media directed me to DL these programs but immediately after i DL'ed the 2nd exe to get the audio to work IE started to automatically load up and open various ad sites (i believe it was from "Internet Speed" or something like that). I typically use only FireFox to browse. Anyhow the two programs i downloaded were "AC3filter_1_46" and "Xvid 1.1.3 final-installer ".

Since then i have run various programs. Mostly from the PC Tools Suite.
-PC Tools AntiVirus (full scan)
-PC Tools Registry Mechanic
-PC Tools Desktop Maestro
-PC TOols Privacy Guardian
-Ad-Adware SE Personal, Lavasoft
-Spybot, Search and Destroy

I have also of course followed the steps listed before posting (i have run SuperAntiSpyware, Panda, AVG).

My comp no longer has IE automatically popping up and i deleted a couple trojan's. I have no idea what they were called. I also have deleted something that starts with a Q. I think it's QDP or QTP and i had two of those on my computer that i got rid of twice and am not sure if it will pop up again. I read that this program can continue to reappear and is hard to get rid of. I also have Vtuurpo that i keep getting rid of but keeps reappearing. Also I have Vundo it seems. My Anti-Virus keeps picking it up and deleting it.

• Now type Combofix /u in the runbox and click OK

The above procedure will do the following:

• Delete ComboFix and its associated files and folders.
• Delete VundoFix backups, if present
• Delete the C:\Deckard folder, if present
• Delete the C:_OtMoveIt folder, if present
• Reset the clock settings.
• Hide file extensions, if required.
• Hide System/Hidden files, if required.
• Reset System Restore.

You now need to update your Java and remove your older versions.

* Click Start > Control Panel.
* Click Add/Remove Programs.
* Check any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE) in the name.
* Click the Remove or Change/Remove button.

* SpywareGuard offers realtime protection from spyware installation attempts.

Make Internet Explorer more secure

• Click Start > Run
• Type Inetcpl.cpl & click OK
• Click on the Security tab
• Click Reset all zones to default level
• Make sure the Internet Zone is selected & Click Custom level
• In the ActiveX section, set the first two options ("Download signed and unsigned ActiveX controls) to "Prompt", and ("Initialize and Script ActiveX controls not marked as safe") to "Disable".
• Next Click OK, then Apply button and then OK to exit the Internet Properties page.

* MVPS Hosts file replaces your current HOSTS file with one containing well known ad sites and other bad sites. Basically, this prevents your computer from connecting to those sites by redirecting them to 127.0.0.1 which is your local computer, meaning it will be difficult to infect yourself in the future.

* Please consider using an alternate browser. Mozilla's Firefox browser is fantastic; it is much more
secure than Internet Explorer, immune to almost all known browser hijackers, and also has the best built-in pop up
