Hi All:

Please help, I have been unable to remove a trojan vundo from my PC. Norton 2008 keeps flagging a HTTP Trojan Vundo intrusion, but I am unable to remove it and my PC performance has slown to a halt and I keep getting random I.E. pop-ups from http:\\89.188.16.22 that do not load as ell as other product pop-ups. Norton details are: Destination address 88.98.235.151, 80. Traffic Description TCP, 1503. Please help!

Thank you very much for your response. I disabled my Norton Anti-Virus and Personal Firewall, and ran the combofix.exe per your orders. The details are denoted below. Please advise if this removed the malware/trojan from my system. Also, my PC still appears to be booting slowly and lagging. If not being caused by anymore malware, are there processes running that I can remove from the start-up, i.e. AIM, etc? If so, please advise.

I did see it after I ran through the combofix and re-did a hijackthis log. Should I proceed to check and fix it now? I did not want to do it out of step. Please advise. Thanks!!

Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.

• Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
• If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
• Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Full Scan", then click Scan. Check all the boxes and click Start Scan
• The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
• When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
• Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
• When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart.(See Extra Note)
• The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
• Copy&Paste the entire report in your next reply.

Extra Note:

Thanks again for all your help with this. My updated logs are denoted below. As for my PC, I am not getting the I.E. pop-ups any more. But my PC still seems to be struggling on start up, taking a longer time to load. Is it running any un-needed processes that can be removed from automatically kicking upon start-up, AIM, etc?

In the hijack this log, I noticed another entry: O2 - BHO: (no name) - {02478D38-C3F9-4efb-9B51-7695ECA05670} - (no file)

If this is malware, not sure how this keeps popping as I have only gone to the geekstogo website since running the mbam cleaner. Please advise.

Your logs are clean ! We need to do a few things

Now lets uninstall Combofix:

• Click START then RUN
• Now type Combofix /u in the runbox and click OK

The above procedure will do the following:

• Delete ComboFix and its associated files and folders.
• Delete VundoFix backups, if present
• Delete the C:\Deckard folder, if present
• Delete the C:_OtMoveIt folder, if present
• Reset the clock settings.
• Hide file extensions, if required.
• Hide System/Hidden files, if required.
• Reset System Restore.

You now need to update your Java and remove your older versions.

Please follow these steps to remove older version Java components.

* Click Start > Control Panel.
* Click Add/Remove Programs.
* Check any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE) in the name.
* Click the Remove or Change/Remove button.

Download the latest version of Java Runtime Environment (JRE), and install it to your computer from

Make Internet Explorer more secure

• Click Start > Run
• Type Inetcpl.cpl & click OK
• Click on the Security tab
• Click Reset all zones to default level
• Make sure the Internet Zone is selected & Click Custom level
• In the ActiveX section, set the first two options ("Download signed and unsigned ActiveX controls) to "Prompt", and ("Initialize and Script ActiveX controls not marked as safe") to "Disable".
• Next Click OK, then Apply button and then OK to exit the Internet Properties page.

* MVPS Hosts file replaces your current HOSTS file with one containing well known ad sites and other bad sites. Basically, this prevents your computer from connecting to those sites by redirecting them to 127.0.0.1 which is your local computer, meaning it will be difficult to infect yourself in the future.

* Please consider using an alternate browser. Mozilla's Firefox browser is fantastic; it is much more
secure than Internet Explorer, immune to almost all known browser hijackers, and also has the best built-in pop up
