Ok I bought an external drive. It works PERFACTLY on my laptop. However when I plug it into my desktop, you hear the "usb" sound (sound when ever new hardware is detected) as if you plug it in and then pulled it right back out. It does the in and out sound about every 2 mins, but never shows in my computer. I thought it was the usb ports, but every thing else works fine in them. So I went and bought a new USB 4port card and put it in... and it STILL doesnt work, but everything else works wonderfull.

So anyone have any ideas why its not working on the desktop?

ALSO I have pluged it into several other computers and they all work fine. So it has to be some setting on this one.

Thanks for any help...

Bump as I'm having a similar problem with mine :) External works on 2 of dad's laptops but won't register on my computer. I get the USB plugged in noise, and it won't show up!
