All files moved by OTMove IT except the blueyonder one which it said it couldn't find. I am sorry about the AVG Scan - I didn't know not to run it. It did find some infected files and when I stopped it it deleted them. What am I to do with all the 11 viruses and the 87 infected files please?

It is ok about the one file.

What am I to do with all the 11 viruses and the 87 infected files please?

The ones that were active we moved with otmoveit.
The rest are in the system restore points and in combofix's quarantine folder >Qoobox.
These have already been deleted and we will clean the restore points when we uninstall Combofix.

Please update your Java:
Older versions have vulnerabilities that malware can use to infect your system. Please follow these steps to remove older version of Java components and upgrade the application. Beware it is NOT supported for use in 9x or ME and probably will not install in those systems

Ugrading Java:

• Download the latest version of Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 update 5.
• Choose Free Java Download
• Close any programs you may have running and follow the prompts.

After that

• Go to Start > Control Panel, double-click on Add/Remove programs and remove all older versions of Java.
• Check any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE or J2SE) in the name.
• Click the Remove or Change/Remove button.
• Repeat as many times as necessary to remove each Java version.
• Reboot your computer once all Java components are removed.

Time for some housekeeping

• Click START then RUN
• Now type Combo-fix /u in the runbox and click OK

Doing this unistalls Combofix and does the following:

• Deletes ComboFix and its associated files and folders.
• Deletes VundoFix backups, if present
• Deletes the C:\Deckard folder, if present
• Deletes the C:_OtMoveIt folder, if present
• Resets the clock settings.
• Hide file extensions, if required.
• Hide System/Hidden files, if required.
• Clean System Restore points.

Also delete\uninstall anything that we used that is left over.

Tried to run "ComboFix/u" and "Combo-fix/u" and it says that the file doesn't exist!

ok then do the following if you atill have ot move it installed.
Cleanup::

• Make sure you have an Internet Connection.
• Double-click OTMoveIt2.exe to run it. (Vista users, please right click on OTMoveit2.exe and select "Run as an Administrator")
• Click on the CleanUp! button
• A list of tool components used in the Cleanup of malware will be downloaded.
• If your Firewall or Real Time protection attempts to block OtMoveit2 to rech the Internet, please allow the application to do so.
• Click Yes to begin the Cleanup process and remove these components, including this application.
• You will be asked to reboot the machine to finish the Cleanup process. If you are asked to reboot the machine choose Yes.

If you do not have OTMoveit still then just delete these folders:
C:\Combofix
C:\Otmove it
C:\Qoobox

also anything else that we used including .txt files

Then empty your recycle bin.

You will know if the account has administrator access because you will be able to see the System Restore tab. If the tab is missing, you are logged in under a limited account.

Just a couple of things please

I ran AVG after carrying out all that you have asked me. No viruses found!

I ran Lavasoft Adaware this morning and it found 14 cases and was able to remove some but not all. Any ideas on that please?

I have read and printed out your advice file on how to stay protected and will certainly follow some of the advice. Would it be possible for you to list the viruses we found, especially the one that stopped my AVG and ZoneAlarm and stopped me from installing any security on our PC please? That must have been a nasty one and I would like to research it to make sure we are totally protected from it!

I ran Lavasoft Adaware this morning and it found 14 cases and was able to remove some but not all. Any ideas on that please

Adaware can find things in the registry that most scanners can not see.
But I assure you that your log is clean.
Spybot and adaware are omly really good for cleaning up leftovers in the registry and the leftovers are not a threat.
They are just leftover entries within the registry that are no longer active.
Afew times of running adaware and they should be gone.
Nothing to worry about.

This program used to be considered adware it might also be picking it up as well
so I would remove it but I know that some like to use it.
It is made by the same people that make MYWebSearch.

I have read and printed out your advice file on how to stay protected and will certainly follow some of the advice. Would it be possible for you to list the viruses we found, especially the one that stopped my AVG and ZoneAlarm and stopped me from installing any security on our PC please? That must have been a nasty one and I would like to research it to make sure we are totally protected from it

The one that you had is a trojan called bagle.
It corrupts any security software and will usually corrupt the Safe Mode regitry key so you cannot delte it in safe mode.
Usually the way to get it is to download cracked software.
But I am not sure where you picked it up.

Keep your antivirus uptodate and run periodic full scans on your computer to avaoid this again.

Sorry - been out all day. Thanks for your last post. My husband was interested in knowing how we got the virus. My fault entirely downloading games from Emule I won't be doing that again and will be removing Emule from our PC
