Well for some reason I have some sort of spyware in my computer which automatically opens up a internet explorer and hides it. Sometimes it plays video or makes a window pop up telling me that I have no anti-virus and such. Another thing that I have noticed is that many things are trying to get access to the internet, random things tell me on ZoneLabs which I have no idea are so I click deny there access. Please help me.

Here is my hijackthis log.

Hi Hugos_Divine,

Welcome to Geeks To Go,

I'm sorry that we haven't got to you until now, but the forum can get hectic at times.

I am sage5 and I will be helping you with this problem.

First I need you to download the following tools & save them to your Desktop.
SDFix
OTMoveIt2 by OldTimer.
Deckard's System Scanner

Run SDFix:
Double click SDFix.exe and it will extract the files to %systemdrive%, (typically C:\SDFix)
  • Restart your Computer in Safe Mode
  • As soon as it starts to boot up, tap your F8 key repeatedly.
  • This should bring up the Windows Advanced Options Menu.
  • Use your arrow keys to select Safe Mode and click the Enter key.
  • Open the extracted SDFix folder and double click RunThis.bat to start the script.
  • Type Y to begin the cleanup process.
  • It will remove any Trojan Services and Registry Entries that it finds then prompt you to press any key to Reboot.
  • Press any Key and it will restart the PC.
  • When the PC restarts the Fixtool will run again and complete the removal process then display Finished, press any key to end the script and load your desktop icons.
  • Once the desktop icons load the SDFix report will open on screen and also save as C:\SDFix\Report.txt
(Report.txt will also be copied to Clipboard ready for posting back on the forum).

Run HijackThis.
  • Click the Do a system scan only button.
  • Check the boxes for the all the entries listed below:
O9 - Extra button: (no name) - {08B0E5C0-4FCB-11CF-AAA5-00401C608501} - C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_06\bin\ssv.dll [oldest java ever]
O9 - Extra 'Tools' menuitem: Sun Java Console - {08B0E5C0-4FCB-11CF-AAA5-00401C608501} - C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_06\bin\ssv.dll
O21 - SSODL: RamRom - {bb9b04e7-5df1-4aea-8cb5-6782855c9e36} - C:\WINDOWS\Installer\{bb9b04e7-5df1-4aea-8cb5-6782855c9e36}\RamRom.dll [Agent.ORQ]
O21 - SSODL: RunOnceAlrt - {035490b0-4f9d-4d40-a146-e4ec46be51a0} - C:\WINDOWS\Installer\{035490b0-4f9d-4d40-a146-e4ec46be51a0}\RunOnceAlrt.dll
O21 - SSODL: DriveCD - {9de07940-9594-4f67-a65f-248d64d740dc} - C:\WINDOWS\Installer\{9de07940-9594-4f67-a65f-248d64d740dc}\DriveCD.dll
O21 - SSODL: CheckCD - {f2259b6c-412d-4325-b05d-7037009aaac3} - C:\WINDOWS\Installer\{f2259b6c-412d-4325-b05d-7037009aaac3}\CheckCD.dll
O21 - SSODL: SetupRunOnce - {6970126d-ed77-4e8b-9e22-28740133f326} - C:\WINDOWS\Installer\{6970126d-ed77-4e8b-9e22-28740133f326}\SetupRunOnce.dll
O23 - Service: Symantec Core LC - Symantec Corporation - C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\CCPD-LC\symlcsvc.exe

  • Now close all windows other than HijackThis and click Fix Checked.
  • Close HijackThis.

Make sure Windows XP is set to show all files:
  • Click Start > My Computer.
  • On the Tools menu, click Folder Options.
  • On the View tab:
    • Uncheck Hide extensions for known file types.
    • Uncheck Hide protected operating system files.
    • Under Hidden files and folders click Show hidden files and folders.
  • You will see a warning message, click Yes.
  • Click Apply.
  • Click OK.

Online Scanner:
You have a few suspicious files on your computer, which I am not familiar with. They need to be analysed by an online scanner like Virustotal.
To use Virustotal go to Here
  • Click on the Browse button at the top of the screen.
  • Go to C:\WINDOWS\Installer\{bb9b04e7-5df1-4aea-8cb5-6782855c9e36} and highlight RamRom.dll and click Open.
  • Click the Send button and wait for the reply.
  • Copy the text from the reply message, paste it to a new text file and save it to your Desktop as virustotal_log.txt
  • Please use the same technique to scan:
    C:\WINDOWS\Installer\{035490b0-4f9d-4d40-a146-e4ec46be51a0}\RunOnceAlrt.dll
    C:\WINDOWS\Installer\{9de07940-9594-4f67-a65f-248d64d740dc}\DriveCD.dll
    C:\WINDOWS\Installer\{f2259b6c-412d-4325-b05d-7037009aaac3}\CheckCD.dll
    C:\WINDOWS\Installer\{6970126d-ed77-4e8b-9e22-28740133f326}\SetupRunOnce.dll
  • Paste the text from all of the replies into virustotal_log.txt
  • I will ask you to include the contents with your next post.

Please post me the text from C:\SDFix\Report.txt & virustotal_log.txt as your next reply

The text from these files may exceed the maximum post length for this forum, and may need to be sent over 2 or more posts. Please ensure all text is posted.

Cheers,

sage5

For some reason the Virus Total can't find the files to be scanned.

Here's the SDFix Report.

Hi Hugos_Divine,

Please download the following & save to your Desktop:
ComboFix

Run ComboFix:
  • Double click combofix.exe and follow the prompts.
  • When finished, it will produce a log for you. Post that log and a HiJackthis log in your next reply
Log file will be C:\Combofix.txt

Note: Do not mouseclick combofix's window while its running. That may cause it to stall

Hi Hugos_Divine,

Please download the following & save to your Desktop:
Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from Here or Here

Run HijackThis.
  • Click the Do a system scan only button.
  • Check the boxes for the all the entries listed below:
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [iSecurity applet] rundll32.exe iSecurity.cpl,SecurityMonitor
O21 - SSODL: iSecurity - {A8311E8F-E459-4D22-89B4-CB9DCF10A425} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\ISECUR~1.CPL (file missing)

  • Now close all windows other than HijackThis and click Fix Checked.
  • Close HijackThis.

Run Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware:
Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
  • Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  • Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
  • The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart. (See Extra Note)
  • The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
  • Copy & Paste the entire report in your next reply.
Extra Note:
If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts. Click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process. If asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately.

Cheers,

I did the scan as you asked. But after everything was deleted I had 2 windows pop about on teatimer(Spybot Search and Destroy) to allowed to change registry. I clicked yes but I assumed it wanted to change something after I had deleted those files check.

Hi Hugos_Divine,

I'm sorry, I missed the Teatimer reference in the running programs section of your HijackThis log.
We wil disable it for the rest of the fix.

Spy-Bot's TeaTimer is an excellent tool for the prevention of spyware, but it can sometimes prevent HijackThis from fixing certain things.
Please disable TeaTimer for now. It can be re-activated once your HijackThis log is clean.
  • Open Spybot Search & Destroy.
  • In the Mode menu click "Advanced mode" if not already selected.
  • Choose "Yes" at the Warning prompt.
  • Expand the "Tools" menu.
  • Click "Resident".
  • Uncheck the "Resident "TeaTimer" (Protection of overall system settings) active." box.
  • In the File menu click "Exit" to exit Spybot Search & Destroy.

Please go HERE to run Panda's TotalScan
  • Select the bubble for Full scan
  • It will start downloading the files it requires for the scan (Note: It may take a couple of minutes)
  • Then the scan will begin
  • When the scan completes, click the Save button on the right of Scan details
  • Save it to C:\active_scan.txt
  • Post the contents of the TotalScan report & a fresh HijackThis log

Cheers,

sage5

Hi Hugos_Divine

Congratulations, your new log looks clear, so we can now deal with some final clean up jobs.

Go to Add/Remove Programs page of the Control Panel & repmove anything with Viewpoint in the name.

Clean out cookies, temp files etc:
Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune.
This program is for XP and Windows 2000 only
  • Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
  • Under Main choose: Select All
  • Click the Empty Selected button.

    If you use Firefox browser
    • Click Firefox at the top and choose: Select All
    • Click the Empty Selected button.

NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.
    If you use Opera browser
    • Click Opera at the top and choose: Select All
    • Click the Empty Selected button.

NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.
  • Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.
For Technical Support, double-click the e-mail address located at the bottom of each menu.

Cleanup with OTMoveIt:
  • Please double-click OTMoveIt2.exe to run it.
  • Click the Clean up button
  • Click YES at the next prompt (list downloaded, Do you want to begin cleanup process?)
  • Click Yes to the reboot.

To Clear Restore points, please do the following:
  • Go to Start > Settings > Control Panel.
  • Double-click the System icon.
    • NOTE: If the System icon is not visible, click "View all Control Panel options" to display it.
  • Click the System Restore tab.
  • Put a check by Disable System Restore.
  • Click Apply, OK, OK. Click Yes when you are prompted to restart Windows.
After reboot, you must turn System Restore back on:
  • Go back to the Troubleshooting tab.
  • UNcheck Disable System Restore.
  • Click Apply, OK, OK. Click Yes when you are prompted to restart Windows.

Lastly, some extra or better security for your PC:

The programs recommended below are freeware alternatives to some of your security software & might reduce the potential for spyware infection in the future:-

Spyware Prevention:
Spyware Blaster by JavaCool Software, prevents spyware installing and consumes no system resources.
IE/SpyAd, stops suspect sites loading ActiveX, popups etc onto your PC. An excellent tutorial is Here

Spyware Detection:
AVG Anti-Spyware is my favourite here.

Anti-Virus:
The first line of defence, especially since some will now detect trojans as well.
Avira's Antivir PersonalEdition Classic and Grisoft's Avast! Free Edition are among the best freebies.
*Please note* You should never install more than one anti-virus program on a PC, as it will cause conflicts.

Firewall:
A Firewall is an essential tool in the security of any PC connected to the Internet.
Sunbelt Personal Firewall and Comodo are both excellent freeware.

Alternate Browsers:
Thankfully, there are now some excellent alternatives to MS Internet Explorer. They offer better security, more stability, and better speed.
A couple of good examples are: Firefox and Opera

Other Updates:
Vital security patches and updates are available for Microsoft Windows and Internet Explorer at the Windows Update Site
It is equally important to update the other security software you use, on a regular basis.

Further reading about these issues is available in a very good article: How did I get infected in the first place ? (by Tony Klein and dvk01)

All the best & safe surfing in the future,
