copy & paste problem

I'm running windows xp. I cannot copy/paste in any program by the edit menu or by right click. Nor save any newly created documents in Word 2003 nor Excel.

I cannot figure out what is causing this. I really need help fixing it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Have you tried Last Known Good Configuration? ( hit f8 on bootup )

if that fails:

Run a File check - Start > Run ....sfc /scannow ( space after sfc )
