Hi there,

I just finished building a new PC, however when i then went to install windows XP, the computer turned off. I tried again and again, but each time it would just turn off at a random point. I checked the power cable and it seemed fine, and i have no idea what it could be.

The PC specs are:
Intel Core 2 duo E4500
Nvidia Geforce 9600GT
Gigabyte GA-P35 DS3L
2GB ram
250GB seagate Barracuda
The power supply is 500W

Any Advice?

Well I'd say the first things to look at are heat and then power... you say you have a 500w power supply but not what brand... not all "500w" power supplies are created equally...
