Everytime that i try to get on the internet i have a pop-up that says i have a trojan and need to get spyware.

think it might be iedefender, but the iedefender removal tool didnt work

You will need to print out a copy of these instructions so that you can refer to while you complete this procedure.

Don't click on any pop-up that offers you to get a different antispyware product.

I need you to remove any version of FixIEDef.exe that you currently have on your computer, as there is a new version out that I need you to download and run.

• • NOTE: You will need to temporarily disable any programs you have running that will block attempts to edit the registry. As FixIEDef calls REGEDIT to delete registry keys added by Zlob, Trojan.Downloader.Delf, AntiSpyPro, and IE Defender.
• Download FixIEDef.exe by ShadowPuterDude to the Desktop.
  Note: FixIEDef now supports Non-English Language Systems
  
  
• Double-click FixIEDef.exe:
  
  
  
• That will open the About FixIEDef screen. Click OK to continue:
  
  
  
• Next, press the Scan! button:
  
  
  
• FixIEDef needs to run as Administrator to perform correctly. This message simply confirms it was able to run with admin privileges. Click OK to continue:
  
  
  
• Wait for the scan to finish. It shouldn't take very long:
  
  
  
  
  
  
  • WARNING: FixIEDef will kill all copies of Internet Explorer and Explorer that are running, during removal of malicious files. The icons and Start Menu on your Desktop will not be visible while FixIEDef is removing malicious files. This is necessary to remove parts of the infection that would otherwise not be removed.

• Post the FixIEDef log file, located on the Desktop.

This should clean out the rest of the nasties in the Registry that that infection creates as well as any other entries that it may find.

Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from Here or Here

Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.

• Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
• If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
• Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
• The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
• When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
• Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
• When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart.(See Extra Note)
• The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
• Copy&Paste the entire report in your next reply.

Extra Note:
If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove,you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts,click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process,if asked to restart the computer,please do so immediatly.

Your Java is out of date. Older versions have vulnerabilities that malicious sites can use to infect your system. Please follow these steps to remove older version Java components and update:

• Download the latest version of Java Runtime Environment (JRE) Version 6 and save it to your desktop.
• Scroll down to where it says "Java Runtime Environment (JRE)6 Update 5...allows end-users to run Java applications".
• Click the "Download" button to the right.
• Read the License Agreement and then check the box that says: "Accept License Agreement". The page will refresh.
• Click on the link to download Windows Offline Installation and save the file to your desktop.
• Close any programs you may have running - especially your web browser.
• Go to Start > Settings > Control Panel, double-click on Add/Remove Programs and remove all older versions of Java.
• Check (highlight) any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE or J2SE) in the name.
• Click the Remove or Change/Remove button.
• Repeat as many times as necessary to remove each Java versions.
• Reboot your computer once all Java components are removed.
• Then from your desktop double-click on jre-6u5-windows-i586-p.exe to install the newest version.

Please do an online scan with Kaspersky WebScanner

Please note: You must use Internet Explorer for this as it uses an ActiveX component.

This scan may take a while to complete, so please be patient and let it finish.

You will be promted to install an ActiveX component from Kaspersky, Click Yes.

• The program will launch and then begin downloading the latest definition files:
• Once the files have been downloaded click on NEXT
  
• Select a target to scan; click on My Computer.
• The scan will take a while so be patient and let it run.
• Once the scan is complete choose the option to Save as Text.
• Save the file to your desktop.
• Copy and paste that information in your next post.

Please post the MBAM and Kaspersky results together with a freash HijackThis log for me to review.

You will need to print out a copy of these instructions, or save them to NotePad and put a shortcut to the file on the desktop so that you can refer to while you complete this procedure.

Be sure to update AVG Anti-Spyware to the latest definition files.

• Open AVG Anti-Spyware
• On top of the main screen click the Update icon.
• Then click on Manual Update button.

The update will start and the progress bar will show the updates being installed.
(When complete the status area at the top will display ("Update successful" or "No Update Available")

If you are having problems with the updater, you can use this link to manually update AVG Anti-Spyware.

Close AVG Anti-Spyware. We will run the scan shortly.

Boot into Safe Mode: You can do this by restarting your computer and as soon as it starts booting up again continuously tap F8. A menu should come up where you will be given the option to enter Safe Mode.

Please go to Start then Control Panel then Add/Remove Programs and remove the following (if present):

Enigma Software
SpyHunter

Please note any other programs that you dont recognize in that list in your next response

Using Windows Explorer (to get there right-click your Start button and go to "Explore"), please delete these folders (if present):

C:\Program Files\Enigma Software Group


Open AVG Anti-Spyware.

IMPORTANT: Do not open any other windows or programs while AVG Anti-Spyware is scanning, it may interfere with the scanning proccess:

• Select the "Scanner" icon at the top and then the "Scan" tab then click on "Complete System Scan".
• AVG Anti-Spyware will now begin the scanning process, be patient this may take a little time.
  Once the scan is complete do the following:
• If you have any infections you will prompted, then select "Apply all actions"
• Next select the "Reports" icon at the top.
• Select the "Save report as" button in the lower left hand of the screen and save it to a text file on your system (make sure to remember where you saved that file, this is important).
• Close AVG Anti-Spyware and reboot your system back into Normal Mode and post the results of the AVG Anti-Spyware report scan.

Did you perform the Kaspersky scan that I requested in my previous post? If you forgot to post the results, could you kindly post them or perform a new Kaspersky scan using the instructions from my previous post.

Please post AVG Anti-Spyware & Kaspersky results along with a fresh HijackThis log. Also let me know how your computer is now behaving (any more pop-ups etc.).

I wasnt able to save the report for the avg scan. it deleted 23 cookies. I also deleted the spyhunter and enigma. The pop ups are also gone

Please follow these Tips to prevent a possible infection or re-infection.

Many computers become infected because of unpatched Operating Systems.

Please ensure Automatic Updates is enabled under Start -> Control Panel -> Automatic Updates , or get into the habit of checking for Windows updates regularly.

Although Vista has its own Firewall there are better alternatives. Here are 2 free ones available for personal use:

• Comodo Firewall
• ZoneAlarm

It is critical to have both a firewall and anti virus to protect your system and to keep them updated.

I notice that you have adequate Anti-Spyware protection on your system, just be sure not to have more than one of these running "Real Time" scanning protection as they can slow your system down considerably, as well as possibly conflicting with each other. Also don't be tempted by pop-ups offering alternative Anti-Spyware programs, usually that is a good indication that you may be infected.

As I mentioned earlier, ensure that you keep your Java updated, and remove the older versions when you update.
