I recently updated my .NET framework to 2.0, and immediately afterwards had 2 different games on my computer begin to act eratically. One that my son plays "Titan Quest" has the voices of its characters cut in and out when he interacts with them, so it seems like a sound issue. He also says his character will stop then "leap" ahead on the screen. This is not an online game, just a single player game loaded directly onto the computer.

The other game that we know is affected is a massively multiplayer online game called "Everquest 2". This game has performed fine for 3 years, but the next time it was played after the .NET framework update, it had several problems processing data from the keyboard. Text lagged behind what was being typed, keys that would make a character turn till the key was released, now would continue to turn the character even after the key was no longer depressed, or the character would continue to run even after the "run" key was released. Also, when typing text, there would be times when it seemed to work normallly, if a bit laggy or slow, but other times when it would suddenly start typing some letters several times like "tttttthis".

My question is, could an update of .NET framework affect my programs adversely like this? Or is it just coincidence that the problem occurred after doing the update? Is there some other problem that is readily obvious that could be causing these issues?

Any advice or tips would be helpful. thanks!

Hi Venge, welcome back :)

Since .NET 2.0 appears to have caused the problem, uninstall it and see if the problem goes away. You may have to check the "Show updates" box to see it in Add or Remove Programs.

You can also check some of the online gaming forums to see if anyone else has experienced this kind of problem.
