Hey guys,
just thinking about making a new system, and i wanted to know how these specs would run with crysis?

Intel Core 2 Duo QUAD CORE Q6600 Processor
8192MB Corsair DDR II 667
1000GB SATA II Seagate Data Storage – RAID Stripe
NEC 7200 Multi Format DVD/CD ReWriter
nVidia 8800GTX 768MB

Would i be able to run crysis at full graphics? And how well would the FPS be?
thanks

Intel Core 2 Duo QUAD CORE Q6600 Processor

If you don't overclock I'd suggest you get a E8400 or E6850 if it's not available. If you overclock, stick with the Q6600.

8192MB Corsair DDR II 667

I doubt you need 8GB of RAM. What are you using this computer for and will this be a 64bit OS?

1000GB SATA II Seagate Data Storage – RAID Stripe

I do not recommend RAID for a consumer based PC.

NEC 7200 Multi Format DVD/CD ReWriter

I suggest getting a Pioneer or samsung drive instead.

nVidia 8800GTX 768MB

This GPU is at the end of it's life, it has been replaced by the 8800GTS 512mb (G92 core), which is significantly cheaper and for the most part outperforms the GTX.

As for how well this will run with Crysis, what resolution do you intend on playing at?

I am using this system purly for gaming, this is a premade computer from a website, so yes it does have a 64bit OS. I do have the option of getting a 8800 GT 1024MB (2048MB SLI) graphics card. i will be using a 22inch screen so probaly 1280x1024

Don't get the 1GB version of the 8800GT, it's a waste of money as the card doesn't need the additional RAM as there are virtually no performance increase over the 512mb version. Not only that, unless you play at a higher resolution, the 1GB card will show no gains what so ever, over its 512mb counterpart.

The native resolution should be much higher then that. Also, aren't you considering a wide screen monitor?

If price isn't a problem...slap a set of the new 9800's that NVIDIA just dropped on the market in there...and if it's REALLY not an issue...get yourself the 790i motherboard and throw three of the 9800's in it!
That's your crysis running mother right there......either way.....you can run Crysis on the 8800 you initially discussed, as well as the 8800 alternative that the other poster suggested.....I've run it on high with a Q6600 OC'd to 3.2GHz and an 8800 GT....so....as much of a HOG as you think the game is....it's not THAT bad with the right rig!

Give me a budget and I would be happy to do so. I need some kind of guidance as to how much you want to spend. I also need to know the native resolution of the monitor you wish to play crysis on, if it's a 22" monitor at a 1680x1050 resolution, then you likely will not be able to max it out at playable frame rates.
