[Spiffex]

During my Norton scan, I keep getting these messages from the program wherein all the files are *.dll and all are found in C:\Program Files\Norton SystemWorks\Norton AntiVirus\Quarantine\Portal



Apparently there are hundreds of them and it continuously duplicates itself. I've also detected amvo.exe and peanut.bat but I can't delete them. I am 100% sure I got it from my friend's USB when she asked me to print something.

Also, this wasn't happening earlier but now I'm getting this when I try to open up my internal drive.

Lets do this:

• 1 - Flash Drive Disinfector
  Download Flash_Disinfector.exe by sUBs from >here< and save it to your desktop.
• Double-click Flash_Disinfector.exe to run it and follow any prompts that may appear.
• The utility may ask you to insert your flash drive and/or other removable drives including your mobile phone. Please do so and allow the utility to clean up those drives as well.
• Wait until it has finished scanning and then exit the program.
• Reboot your computer when done.

Note: Flash_Disinfector will create a hidden folder named autorun.inf in each partition and every USB drive plugged in when you ran it. Don't delete this folder...it will help protect your drives from future infection.


Next:
Download ComboFix from one of the locations below, and save it to your Desktop.

Couple of questions Spiffex,
Is your Norton up to date and running?
Do you use 7-Zip?

We need to get rid of a few items so the don't pop back up again. Please read this carefully and ask questions if you are no sure of this process.

The steps that I am about to suggest involve modifying the registry. Modifying the registry can be dangerous so we will make a backup of the registry first.
Modification of the registry can be EXTREMELY dangerous if you do not know exactly what you are doing so follow the steps that are listed below EXACTLY. if you cannot perform some of these steps or if you have ANY questions please ask BEFORE proceeding.

Backing Up Your Registry

• Go Here and download ERUNT
  (ERUNT (Emergency Recovery Utility NT) is a free program that allows you to keep a complete backup of your registry and restore it when needed.)
• Install ERUNT by following the prompts
  (use the default install settings but say no to the portion that asks you to add ERUNT to the start-up folder, if you like you can enable this option later)
• Start ERUNT
  (either by double clicking on the desktop icon or choosing to start the program at the end of the setup)
• Choose a location for the backup
  (the default location is C:\WINDOWS\ERDNT which is acceptable).
• Make sure that at least the first two check boxes are ticked
• Press OK
• Press YES to create the folder.

My Norton is up to date and running but other people are telling me to get rid of it and use AVG instead.
Yup I'm using 7-Zip.

I've done all you said and this may be useless but it said "add" instead of "merge". You said it would be a similar prompt so I guess it's okay.

Hi Spiffex

I want to install recovery console on your machine, before we do anything else.
Go to Microsoft's website => http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310994
Select the download that's appropriate for your Operating System.





Download the file & save it as it's originally named, next to ComboFix.exe.






Now close all open windows and programs, then drag the setup package onto ComboFix.exe and drop it. Follow the prompts to start ComboFix and when prompted, agree to the End-User License Agreement to install the Microsoft Recovery Console. When complete, a log named CF_RC.txt will open. Please post the contents of that log.

Please do not reboot your machine until we have reviewed the log.
