I moved to the USA and brought my Canadian Dell Dimension 2100 desktop with me. I did a search on Dell.com for ram and found.....USA
Manufacturer Part# : SNP48WJWC/256 | Dell Part# : A0743554.This is for a Dell Dimension 2200.(there is no Dell Dimension 2100 listed)
In Dell.ca I found....Manufacturer Part# SNP48WJWC/256
Dell Part# A0379140 for my Dell 2100.
Can you tell me if these are the same? The manufaturers part number is the same so I am assuming there is no difference. I asked Dell USA this ? and they couldn't or wouldn't tell me.
Dell Canada does not ship to the USA and I need more ram. I am only running on 128MB right now and can only put in a max of 256MB in each slot. 1 of my ram slots is broken.

I have checked the specs on your computer. I would go with this: http://www.newegg.co...N82E16820146079.

Upgrades from computer manufacturers are typically always rip-offs. If you only plan to use one stick then you won't have to worry about incompatibilities in two different types of RAMs.

You could also use that PC to connect to http://www.crucial.com where they have a system scanner utility which can detect what RAM is compatible with it, and show you compatible RAM sticks you can buy online from them. Warranty allows you to return it if it doesn't work -- full refund.

That utility is good but you will most likely pay extra for the RAM. You can use the utility to check and then purchase the RAM from a prominant e-tailer such as Newegg.com or Tigerdirect.com. I don't recommend buying directly from the Crucial website.

Thank you. I used the NewEgg configuator and they came up with pc133 for my Dell Demension 2100. I bought the kingston ram (which is what I had before) for $25.99.

A0743554 is the only Dell upgrade I see for your Dimension 2100.

EDIT: Upon further review... who cares? I just saw you already have RAM. All the better though, since it's like $60 a pop from Dell.

Your system supports pc133 RAM but my reading indicates that it may only run at pc100 speeds.

GRRRRRRR i bought the ram from newegg pc133/256. it took 3 days to get here. I installed it and a black screen comes up with......
Dell demension 2100
bios version A14
Intel ® celeron ™ processor, 900 mhz
16MB system ram

keyboard....detected
usb lagacy....enabled
memory size decrease

press <DEL> to run set up

I did press DEL and in my bios it showed memory bank 1-32MB
I am assuming that this ram stick is no good and am returning it.
When I ran the tool on newegg all the ram it suggested for me was pc133.

Your computer may have either PC 100 or shared2 PC 133-SDRAM modules at 100 MHz installed. Do not mix these two module types in the computer. To see which memory type is installed in your computer, inspect the label on the memory module.

Do you have pc100 already in the computer? Did you buy one or two sticks of RAM from newegg, and how many are working? I do not think the mobo requires paired memory... i'm still poking around though.

I only have 1 memory bank available #2 bank is broken. I only bought 1 stick and am sending it back for a replacement. I am waiting for paperwork (email) from newwegg.
