Hi,

My Laptop is having a bit of a mare at the moment. i click to install a program it goes through a few dialog boxes then when it comes to the progress bar nothing happens. In fact I cant actually uninstall anything either. I have tried from the start menu, and gone into the program folder to uninstall but still just get the same lproblem. I have also tried through add/remove programs with the same effect. This is the same for every program that I want to get rid of or install.

I am running vista premium and logged in as the adminstrator

I also cannot open windows security centre do not know if this problem is linked with the other

My CDRW and DVD seem to be working fine.

Can anyone please help, as I am about to throw my machine out of the window

Many thanks,
Gary

Hello, and elcome to Geeks To Go.
What you have described is a symptom of malware infection.
I suggest you go to the Malware Forum and run all the steps located in the START HERE. These self-help tools will help you clean up 70% of problems on your own. If you are still having problems after doing the steps, then please post a HiJackThis Log in THAT forum. If you are unable to run and/or post a HJT log, then post that in your initial post in the topic you create in that forum.

If you are still having problems after being given a clean bill of health from the malware expert, then please return to THIS thread and we will pursue other options to help you solve your current problem(s).
