When I get to the first reboot the computer just stops! It doesn't do anything. I try to restart it myself and it will go dark after I click turn off computer but then when I click restart it brightens back up and just sits there again.

hmmm ...

I spoke too fast ...

A window came up that says:

svchost.exe - Application Error

The instruction at "Ox77eb3782" referenced memory at "Ox77eb3782". The required data was not placed into memory because of an I/O error status of "oxc0000015".

Click on OK to terminate the program
Click on CANCEL to debug the program

Sounds like a memory card error

Do you have a windows CD ?

We might look at a repair

I just remembered something ... we removed a lot of viruses last month. Could we have removed something in the memory? Also, the PC tower was noisy until I removed the viruses but then it started acting up again the past couple of days ???

I am stumped! :)

You have been very kind and helpful. I truly appreciate your help. Maybe you can tell me what to do now because I don't know. Do I click on OK? or Cancel? Can he still use the internet if I can get him to stay away from questionable pictures and downloads?

Thank you very much for your kind help and answers ...

Sorry about the delay but my bed was calling - click cancell to let it debug the problem

We may have to do a file verification check to ensure that all files are correct.

Also the noisy fan does not sound too good - have you done a dust bunny hunt ?
