Hi there, no problem about the bed thing. I totally understand. You have been very patient with me and very helpful as well. If there is anyway to pay you a little something for your help I will. I am going to donate to this website for sure. I haven't done it yet. But I will.

The noises are not regular. They come and go. We did a dust bunny check. They found someone else's computer to set up camp because they are not in this one.

My uncle bought Windows Vista. Can we use that to upgrade Windows with?

Thanks a whole whole bunch!!!!!

:) :) :)

With regards to Vista you will need to download this programme and run it - it will then let you know whether your system is capable of running it http://go.microsoft....926&clcid=0x409

What is the current status of your XP machine ?

WOW! Looks good so far. Loaded up fast. Stupid Yahoo messenger even loaded fast. I call it stupid because I had a personal dual with that program. I would think I had it set to load up manually and the darn thing kept telling me to think otherwise. It insisted in loading on start up.

Ok ... it's on ... oh it said defragment was successful.

I didn't check on the vista thing because I don't have the cd with me. I can get it this evening if you would like. Or I won't be able to work on that until I come back next week. I am leaving tomorrow to go out of state. If we could get this to where he can use while I am gone that would be great!!! Then when I come back if we need to do an upgrade to vista we can.

Thank you!

I tried the advisor and I thought I would wait until we do more work. It asked if I wanted beta?

Anyways ... the computer made a little clicking sound when I started the download. I stopped it and now it is quiet again. I will try again in a little while. I just didn't want to mess up a good thing.

For the advisor the downloaded programme will check you do not need a cd

Looks like we won't need to do a repair :)

Lets just tighten up your security now

Your Java is out of date. Older versions have vulnerabilities that malicious sites can use to infect your system. Please follow these steps to remove older version Java components and update:
  • Download the latest version of Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 Update 5 and save it to your desktop.
  • Scroll down to where it says "JJava Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 Update 5...allows end-users to run Java applications".
  • Click the "Download" button to the right.
  • Read the License Agreement and then check the box that says: "Accept License Agreement". The page will refresh.
  • Click on the link to download Windows Offline Installation and save the file to your desktop.
  • Close any programs you may have running - especially your web browser.
  • Go to Start > Settings > Control Panel, double-click on Add/Remove Programs and remove all older versions of Java.
  • Check (highlight) any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE or J2SE) in the name.
  • Click the Remove or Change/Remove button.
  • Repeat as many times as necessary to remove each Java versions.
  • Reboot your computer once all Java components are removed.
  • Then from your desktop double-click on jre-6u5-windows-i586-p.exe to install the newest version.

Also your Acrobat is well out of date, if you just use it to read and not create PDF files then I would recommend uninstalling it and replacing it with this free programme which is a lot, lot smaller and a lot, lot faster Foxit reader If you use it to create PDF's then get version 8

Maybe I should just get the newest version of acrobat since that is what they are used to. Where can I find that?
