Hi!

I've installed Dota-Client b1.8 (final beta) - used with Warcraft III. (On my sons computer)

When the installation finish I'm prompted to reboot.

After the reboot there comes a message that C:\Windows\system32\MsgHoo32.ocx Unable to register DLL/OCX: Regsvr32 failed with exit code 0x5.

When running Dota Client and the starting WCIII and logging in on battlenet.
There is a popup-window from dota client that says

Run-time error '91': Object variable or with block variable not set.

When clicking OK in this popup-window the dota-client software closes.

When serarching theri forum I found this

http://www.dotagamin...php?topic=641.0

But as System restore isn't activated on this computer I can't use repair windows XP to solve this

I've installed Dota client on two other computers. Working flawless.
So it is not that it's beta

Has anyone a clue to solve this?

starjax ! Kat recommended you - she says you are the best - Do you have a solution to this?

well look and see if you have MsgHoo32.ocx on your system. If you do find it, then look at the version of the file and report the findings here.

If you don't have it, then you may need to download it.

http://www.nodevice..../item12156.html

save and extract to c:\windows\system32 folder.

Prefetch is clickable for more information

Click start then run, type prefetch then press enter, click edit then select all, (all files will highlight), right click any file, click delete, confirm

Click start then all programmes, accessories, system tools to run disc clean up

Reboot

Click start then all programmes, accessories, system tools to run defragmenter

Download, install and run
Tune Up 2007 Trial

Run Tune Up disc clean up

Run Tune Up registry clean up

Disable the anti virus programme then click Optimize and Improve to run Reg Defrag, the screen will lose colour during the process which can take a few minutes and then needs a reboot

Check the anti virus programme is running

Those will have cleared the drive of obsolete software errors

These are suggestions for making the most of the free trial

Click optimize and improve then system optimizer to optimize the computer, select computer with an internet connection from the drop down menu, this also requires a reboot

After the reboot, click optimize then system optimizer to accelerate downloads, select the speed just above your actual connection speed, this requires a reboot.

After the reboot, click optimize then system optimizer to run system advisor

Hi starjax!

As you thought it was malware related I posted in the malware forum.
Essexboy helped me cleaning up and boosting the speed of the comp.

Almost the same as your suggestion here.

The differense was the prefetch part - I did that also.

The installationproblem with DotA client is gone so this topic can be closed

I have an issue with configuring the Nvidia graphics card - but I'll start a thread in hardware forum for that

And of course many thxs for your help.

EDIT
UPDATE!

No no :):tazz: the runtime error is back again.

And msghoo32.ocx can't be registered

This one beats me.
Why can't the msghoo32 be registered?

sorry to ressurect this old thread but... after installing this program on my desktop, i was prompted to reboot, and now i cannot restart my computer. i get a screen telling me that windows failed to start properly and to select an option. i have

safe mode
safe mode with command prompt
safe mode with networking

restart with last best configuration

restart normally

Now last best config doesnt not work, sounds like my PC is turning off during the startup process, of course starting normally doesnt work, and the safe mode options give the same result as config option.

apperently my recovery CD's are old, so it tells me the image is incorrect. idk if it matters that its SP2 CD's and ive recently upgraded to SP3.
