Thing is, if I go dipping into the Registry, I can SEE the Autoplay handler for "Transfer and manage music with RMM". (I can also see it if I fire up TweakUI for Windows XP, but of course I can't edit it.) So it got installed, but for some reason it's not firing when I connect the player, like it should be.
Unfortunately, since it's a USB device, the usual uninstall/reinstall stuff isn't happening, 'cuz there's no real easy way to uninstall the drivers. If you uninstall the device in Device Manager, the next time you connect it, it just reinstalls again.
So I figure I have two ways to solve this: I can:
1) Figure out what's broken in the Registry, and make the necessary fixes so that the handler fires, or
2) Figure out what needs to be deleted / renamed / whatever so that Windows "forgets" this device has been installed, and acts like it's the first time I connected it next time, so I can install the old drivers that came with the player, which I'm thinking should restore the old behavior that I desire.
Anyone have any ideas how I should approach this?
