Hijacked and Really Can't Figure it out

I have tried to follow other hijack posts for IE hijack - about:blank - CWS etc. I have used CWShredder - Adaware - Microsoft Antispam - Norton is actually installed and automatically update (so not sure where it brokedown...)

The following is a log that I did after completing a Safe mode clean up. So all the R1 files are clean (i think). I could really use some help - it is extremely slow - pop -ups adds to favourites - hijacks home page - blocks IE links... After every clean up it improves but I am missing some file that keeps reseting it.

In greater need of help. Last night my computer went blank for 5 seconds before coming back to me. I am worried that I am starting to do more damage than good. I am getting a little more aggressive in deleting what seem to me to be suspicious entries in the Hijackthis log. Can someone help me please?

You may need to be in Safe Mode to find it or use My Computer/Windows Explorer and activate "Show Hidden/System Files" Show Hidden and System files:

Please follow the instructions below if you wish to remove the offending objects from your machine

The first step to clean your machine, it is highly recommended that you clean the following directory contents (but not the directory folder):
* C:\Windows\Temp\
* C:\Documents and Settings\<Your Profile>\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\ <=This will delete all your cached internet content including cookies. This is recommended and strongly suggested. OK so I went into safe mode and tried to do what you suggested. The Apidl.exe file wouldn't delete though. I am now going to download Killbox and see if I can get rid of it that way. If you don't recommend that then please let me know. Below is the new log.

OK - so I downloaded Killbox got apidl.exe out - and now my computer is going nuts. A whole bunch of other viruses are been blocked by my microsoft antivirus and regfreeze - two new .exe file have attempted to download as well - they aren't being picked up by the antivirus but I have blocked anyway. I am running panda in the back ground but though I'd post - seems I'm worse off than I was.

I stripped it again in safe mode based on Panda - please find recent hijacked log - I still seem to have a problem, each time I clean the .exe files mentioned by the virus scans something else gets added.

I've run the scans but during them IE tried to crash and did crash once. Some of the scans ask for payment to remove. Is this something I should do? All scans say I have lots of viruses. My latest HJT report is below. Of note however - CWSredder says I don't have it. And it is the latest version so don't know what is up there. Please download this tool called 'About:Buster':

Unzip it to your desktop.

DO NOT relaunch Internet Explorer at any point during this.

Now, boot in to safe mode. Instructions on how to do so are in the following link:

(Follow the instructions revelant to your operating system. In this case it is either Windows 2000 or XP)

Once in safe mode, Launch the About:Buster program you had earlier downloaded. Click 'OK' to the first prompt you get upon launching the program. That message is simply a breif explaination on what the program is and what it does. First of all you must get the latest update for About:Buster. About:Buster uses a file for the detection references, in a similiar way to Ad-aware. So, click the 'Update' button. On the next window, click 'Check for Updates'. If there is a new detection update available, it will say so and the 'Download Update' button will become enabled. Click it and it will download the update. This will take literally a few seconds. Once completed, it will say the update has been complete. Click the 'X' to get rid of that screen.

(If there was no update available and you have the latest it will tell you and automatically close the Update screen)

Now, click the 'Start' button. Click the 'OK' button you now see. Leave it to scan (the scan time can take some time to complete, so leave it scanning.). Once the first scanhas completed, it will ask you if you wish for About:Buster to scan once more. Answer yes and leave it scanning a second time. Once the second scan has finished, then copy/paste it's report somewhere. To copy/paste it all, please select (highlight) with your mouse ALL of the text in the white box (in About:Buster). Right-click with your mouse and select 'Copy'.

Now, launch Notepad (click Start > Run > type in and press enter: notepad.exe) and RIGHT-click in the empty space. Select 'Paste'. Now the logfile from About:Buster will have been copied into Notepad. Click 'File' (in the menus...) > 'Save As'. Save it in C:\ and as Log.txt.

Now, restart the computer as normal and you'll return into Windows 'Normal' mode.Once back in 'Normal' mode, re-scan with About:Buster once more. Answer no to a second scan this time. As before, do the exact same to copy/paste it's logfile. (This time save the file as Log2.txt). Now, with both logfiles (Log.txt from safe mode and Log2.txt from 'Normal' mode) we can see how things have changed in HijackThis. Launch HijackThis and press the 'Scan' button. Save that new logfile (from HijackThis). Now you have three logfiles to post: Log.txt which is the About:Buster logfile/report in Safe mode, Log2.txt is a new scan in 'Normal' mode with A:B and the HijackThis logfiles. Post all three logfiles, in this topic, separating each one so I can see which is which.
