Hello, everyone. This is my first custom built PC ever. I'm building it for gaming and general use. I want this machine to last me exactly two years, not necessarily future-proof beyond that, but also the best I can get for my money. This is what someone else set me up with, but if you could look over it and tell me what you think, I want it to be as good for my dollar as possible.

As I said, it's for gaming and general use for 2 years. My price ceiling is about 1500-1600 before tax.

Here's the list I have now:

Antec Nine Hundred Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case - Retail $119.99

GIGABYTE GA-EP35-DS3P LGA 775 Intel P35 ATX Dynamic Energy Saver Ultra Durable II Intel Motherboard - Retail $159.99

EVGA 640-P2-N824-AR GeForce 8800GTS 640MB 320-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card - Retail $249.99

COOLER MASTER eXtreme Power RP-600-PCAR ATX from factor 12V V2.01 600W Power Supply - Retail $79.99

Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 Wolfdale 3.0GHz LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor Model BX80570E8400 - Retail $249.99

OCZ ReaperX HPC 4GB(2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1000 (PC2 8000) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model OCZ2RPX10004GK - Retail $139.99

Seagate Barracuda ES.2 ST3250310NS 250GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - OEM $79.99

SAMSUNG 2253BW Black 22" 2ms(GTG) DVI Widescreen LCD Monitor - Retail $289.99

Total: $1369.92

Welcome to GTG!

I notice you didn't include a DVD-writer, do you have one already?
I strongly suggest you get this video card instead as it performs way better than what you selected. Its $259.99 (with $30 Mail-In-Rebate).
I'd also suggest this Mushkin Redline RAMs as it better quality for $119.99.

Hi there,

In addition to kamille's comments, I would strongly recommend a better power supply. Something like this would be much better.

Cheers
