I have no patches, my version is 1.0.525 in multi player bottom right
Call of duty is located at C:\Program Files\Activision\Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare
in my computer and that is where the auto install put it.
When I try and update I get the warning "setup could not locate a valid installation of call of duty. Since we were unable to locate a valid installation, you will be prompted for the location of Call of Duty, during the installation. Call of Duty must be installed before applying the patch. Click OK to continue" then it say "setup could not locate a valid call of duty CD key. Please re-enter your CD key in the Multiplayer Options menu or reinstall call of duty to correct this problem. Click OK to exit the installer." I have the correct key in multiplayer.
I have tried the notepad cod.reg
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Activision]
@=""
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Activision\Call of Duty]
"InstallPath"="C:\\CALLOF~1"
"InstallDrive"="E:"
"Language"="1"
"StartMenuFolder"="C:\\Documents and Settings\\starjax\\Start Menu\\Programs\\Call of Duty"
"Version"="1.5"
"pb"="1"
"codkey"="your cd key here"
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Activision\Call of Duty United Offensive]
"InstallPath"="C:\\Call of Duty"
"key"="your cd key here"
"InstallDrive"="E:\\"
"Language"="1"
"StartMenuFolder"="Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare"
"Version"="1.51"
(with all my info put in properly)
but it tells me "Cannot import C:\Documents and Settings\ai\Desktop\cod.reg: The specified file is not a registry script. You can only import binary registry files from within the registry editor."
Any help would be awesome, thanks
