See above, and no need to run ATF Cleaner or MBAM again, Ok.

Jill,

I'm at work in the US, so will be here in the morning.

i cannot find a home page shield
i cannot find an automatically restored default w/o notification

Don't worry if they are not there. Just make sure everything else is turned off then run Combofix as laid out above, then post me all the logs and we'll take it from there, OK.

regards,
RatHat

Jill,

I notice that you have Trend Micro Anti Virus running on your computer. To disable it please look for the Trend Micro icon in your system tray, it's a small red globe with a white 'arrow' around it.

Right click on it, and choose Open Main Console

On the tabs down the left hand side, choose Virus & Spyware Controls

In the right hand side you should see two buttons which say On and have a green tick in them

Click them both, so they change to Off and have a red X in them.

Your computer will warn you that you no longer have anti virus protection. Don't worry about this. Now double check that you have Spy Sweeper disabled, then run Combofix. Post me all the logs when complete.

Regards,
RatHat

found the trend micro antivirus

after clicking main console, i was in Status.
There were 3 buttons on the left :
antivirus status which was red,
event logs which were red,
internet security status which was grey.

i selected antivirus status--it was closest to what you asked for "virus & spyware controls."
(6 buttons were on the right status, system, email, internet, firewall, update)

once in antivirus status it listed these things which were enabled:
real-time scan--enabled,
incoming/outgoing mail scan-enabled,
webmail scan--DISABLED,
scheduled update--enabled.

is there anything there i should disable?

Jill,

Can you right click on the Trend Micro icon in your system tray, and then choose exit. This should shut the program down, so you can then run Combofix.

Let me know if you have any other problems with it.
