Need Help! Fake Anti Virus Malware has me held hostage!

Dell Latitude D6-10....was running Ad Aware but something got through that has taken over desktop.... Fake Anti-Virus Spyware. I took off Ad Aware Personal version and downloaded free trial version of AVG 8.0 and ran scan. It identified the fake anti-virus malware but it hasn't been able to clean it off. I'm a damsel in distress!
