GTG,

Hope you all are having a good night.

I would like some help if you don't mind. My protection programs are not opening, but they will open and run in safe-boot.

I have done the required steps, following all the directions in Safe boot (w/ networking) because these programs could not run in normal boot.

Adaware - found some things and i dumped them (rebooted, scan again - nothing)
CWshredder found CWmsconfig problem - fixed
Spy bot with the DSO fix - fixed the DSO problem
norton antivirus - found nothing
Trend housecall found three things that were deleted
TDS - nothing
windows updates installed

I am still having problems opening these programs mentioned in normal boot.

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes. You should 'not' have any open browsers when you are following the procedures below.

Go to My Computer->Tools/View->Folder Options->View tab and make sure that 'Show hidden files and folders' (or 'Show all files') is enabled. Also make sure that 'Display the contents of system folders' is checked. If you have Windows XP, the search feature is a little different. When you click on 'All files and folders' on the left pane, click on the 'More advanced options' at the bottom. Make sure that 'Search system folders', 'Search hidden files and folders', and 'Search subfolders' are checked.

For the options that you checked/enabled earlier, you may uncheck them after your log is clean. If we ask you to fix a program that you use or want to keep, please post back saying that (we don't know every program that exists, so we may tell you to delete a program that we think is bad to keep).

Download LSPFix http://www.greyknigh.../spy/LSPFix.exe and run it. Click on flsmngr.dll on the left window and click on the arrow pointing to the right. Click Finish and follow the prompts.

If you have a fast internet connection (broadband), run an online virus scan at TrendMicro http://uk.trendmicro...call_launch.php. Just follow the instructions on the site to run the online scan. If any viruses/trojans are detected, try to delete or clean them in that site. You may use Panda ActiveScan also at http://www.pandasoft...ucts/activescan. Otherwise, make sure your antivirus program has the latest definitions and run a full system scan.

Reboot into Safe Mode by hitting the F8 key until menu shows up. In some systems, this may be the F5 key, so try that if F8 doesn't work.
Go to Start->Run and type in services.msc and hit OK. Then look for Debug oupost relations (LAGOS) and double click on it. Click on the Stop button and under Startup type, choose Disabled. Do the same thing for Loading Outpost Connections (KDE).

Make sure to close any open browsers. Go into HijackThis->Config->Misc. Tools->Open process manager. Select the following and click 'Kill process' for each one if they are still listed (they shouldn't be - but double check):

C:\WINDOWS\System32\oleaconf.exe

Run a scan in HijackThis. Check each of the following and hit 'Fix checked' (after checking them) if they still exist (make sure not to miss any):

O9 - Extra button: Microsoft AntiSpyware helper - {C27F2C73-2103-4F31-8D2E-AD7F16E236FF} - (no file) (HKCU)
O9 - Extra 'Tools' menuitem: Microsoft AntiSpyware helper - {C27F2C73-2103-4F31-8D2E-AD7F16E236FF} - (no file) (HKCU)
O10 - Unknown file in Winsock LSP: c:\windows\system32\flsmngr.dll
O10 - Unknown file in Winsock LSP: c:\windows\system32\flsmngr.dll
O10 - Unknown file in Winsock LSP: c:\windows\system32\flsmngr.dll
O16 - DPF: {02AA9E0F-B4EB-4BE9-A769-FD09543FEEC2} (UniInstaller Class) - http://www.twomuslim...e-installer.cab
O21 - SSODL: RJpJpZfwIq - {E05403AB-4AFE-A901-9624-5846B9C004A7} - C:\WINDOWS\System32\gkblh.dll (file missing)
O23 - Service: Loading Outpost Connections (KDE) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\System32\cmdtel.exe (file missing)
O23 - Service: Debug oupost relations (LAGOS) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\System32\ahtun.exe (file missing)

Delete the following Files/Folders (delete folders if no filename is specified) according to their directory (if none, just do a search for them) and delete them if they exist:

C:\WINDOWS\System32\oleaconf.exe
c:\windows\system32\flsmngr.dll
C:\WINDOWS\System32\gkblh.dll
C:\WINDOWS\System32\cmdtel.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\ahtun.exe

Reboot into Normal Mode run a new HijackThis scan. Save the log file and post it here.

Two quick questions.

1 - From my experience with housecall and panda, they only delete the viruses and detect the malware.

According to this scanning is free and deleting is $$:

http://uk.trendmicro...ll_intro_en.pdf

Should I buy a ticket?

2 - Can I reboot in safe mode using msconfig instead of the F8 method?

No. Just copy and paste what it finds here (if you can). We will remove/delete them manually.

I wouldn't suggest booting to safe mode using msconfig. OK, do you know the admin password (in safe mode that is)? This thing can be a real pain if you either don't know the password or forgot about it. The problem is that if you don't know that safe mode admin password, you won't be able to get into Windows at all. It will keep looping into Safe Mode since you have that /SAFEBOOT switch turned on. Use F8 (or sometimes F5 on different systems) if you can.

The Housecall link you gave didn't work so I used this one instead:

http://housecall.tre.../start_corp.asp

It found nothing.

Panda's log is attached.

Norton is still not working as well as the other programs.

The latest hjt log:

Boot into Safe Mode and delete these two files if found:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\flsmngr.dll
C:\WINDOWS\System32\inetkadp.exe

Restart (normal mode).

Give me these logs:

Right click on http://www.silentrun...ent Runners.vbs and choose Save As...Save it to your Desktop. Make sure you have disabled any programs that may block/disable scripts (ex: Ad-Watch, TeaTimer, Norton, etc.). Double click on 'Silent Runners' to run it. This will take a few minutes. It will create a file called 'Startup Programs' followed by your computer name and current date. Open up that file and post all the contents here in your next post.

Download FindQoologic-Narrator.zip at http://forums.net-in...=post&id=134981 and save it to your Desktop. Create a new folder on your desktop (right click and select New->Folder) and call it FindQoologic. Now unzip the file contents of that zip file into that folder. Locate and double-click the Find-Qoologic.bat file to run it. Wait until a text file opens and post that in your next reply.

Download DllCompare http://www.greyknigh.../DllCompare.exe and run it. Click on the 'Locate.com' button. Wait a few seconds and then click on the 'Compare' button. Let it run, then click on 'Make a log of what was found'. Post that log here. Note: If you are having problems using DllCompare (16 bit error), copy autoexec.nt from the C:\WINDOWS\repair folder to C:\WINDOWS\system32 folder. Now try running DllCompare.
