I'm a bit of a computer moron :) But my laptop has somehow gotten what I think is a Trojandownloader.xs virus and an abebot virus. I'm getting fake windows pop ups saying I am infected with spyware, etc... My desk top was changed. The fake windows pop ups take you to a website to download a program to 'fix it' but in reality it wants you to download another virus.

This has been going on for a week, and I'm getting worried. I've downloaded all sorts of programs and tried to fix it on my own. I've now decided that I need help! :)

I'm using windows xp, and generally use firefox, but do have IE on the computer. I paid for Norton when I bought the computer. Have downloaded AVG anti spyware 7.5 since this all started happening. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I attached a screen shot of one of the error messages that keep popping up.

Hello, and welcome to Geeks To Go.
I suggest you go to the Malware Forum and run all the steps located in the START HERE. These self-help tools will help you clean up 70% of problems on your own. If you are still having problems after doing the steps, then please post a HiJackThis Log in THAT forum. If you are unable to run and/or post a HJT log, then post that in your initial post in the topic you create in that forum.

If you are still having problems after being given a clean bill of health from the malware expert, then please return to THIS thread and we will pursue other options to help you solve your current problem(s).
