i accidentally messed up my system

I did a system reboot which went fine.

Then the next it just says LOAD ERROR when i try to start up windows

I rebooted my system again, but when i restarted there is another error message:

Invalid Partition Table

I have no idea what to do. I have checked a couple of sites but i don't understand what they are telling me to to do

Please i need help. Make it sound as easy as possible.

:)

Do you have more than one partition on the drive? This error is usually caused by none, or more than one partition being marked as active.

See Post #3 here: http://www.pcreview....amp;postcount=3

It points to the free MBRWORK 1.07b tool here: http://www.terabyteu...ee-software.htm

I have not used this so can not vouch for it's effectiveness but if your computer has a floppy disk drive it may be worth trying if no other suggestions are offered.

Another possibility would be to download a Windows 98 SE diskette image from bootdisk.com. Boot it, run fdisk at the command prompt and see what partitions are marked as active. Make your XP boot active, see if that helps.

my bad,

i formatted the floppy before i put it in

now it recognizes that it is a system thing but,

it says that,

boot disk failure, please insert system disk and press enter

I have a feeling that my floppy drive is bust.
Should i try a replacement

No, instead, download EBCD. You have to run the builder utility (makeebcd.exe) (or .bat file before version 0.6.0) to create .iso file. Refer to user manual for more info.

You don't burn the iso file itself to CD., you create a CD from the iso file using your CD burning software. There is a good freeware burner called DeepBurner which will do this. Another called ISO Recorder is also very easy to use.

It has a pretty good set of tools for working with hard drives. Click on the Description page for a short list. Worth trying.

There is also Ultimate Boot CD. It comes as a iso image so you don't have to build it. Also an impressive list of tools.

you could try wiping out the harddrive
only do it if you dont have much choice
then try to reinstall windows
using boot and nuke should erase the drive
download boot and nuke from here

Okay, the pressure is off now, right. You can boot XP with the CD in so the Monday deadline is no longer important.

The failing computer has XP only, right? It's not setup to dual boot?

I've not used UBCD for a while so I really don't remember much about it. I'll see if I still have a copy, if not I'll burn a new one and play with it for a bit to see if I can come up with some instructions for you.

don't worry guys

i have removed all of these error messages and rebooted my system but,

my recovery system has two cds- recovery and update

my comp reads my recovery cd but rejects my update cd

i have to use two drivers because the update cd does no work without the recovery cd

any final ideas guys

i use a cd-rom drive and a dvd-rom drive (it has worked before, don't know whats wrong)

my dvd-rom opens automatically with or without a cd after bout 15 seconds

this should hopefully be the final problem
