My dad's computer has Vista on it which I am somewhat unfamiliar with.

Although he can download Java it won't load when clicked. Limewire won't start, we can't print documents, it won't load up pages like TrendMicro Housecall (it will go as far as 'run housecall' and then shuts down IE when you click the link).

No error comes up. Nothing happens at all when you click on Java in the Control Panel.

I have uninstalled and re-installed Java and Limewire several times.

Recently he installed Spybot on his computer which supposedly removed the coolwwwsearch from his computer. I uninstalled spybot but am lost as to what I need to do.

Is this Malware? I remember having a similar problem on my computer several years ago. If i recall correctly it had something to do with coolwwwsearch.

Could something else be blocking his Java from loading?

Any help would be great.

Thanks

Hi there,

I am pretty sure it is malware.

I suggest you head over to the malware forums. Read this thread first. Following what is outlined there you will get rid of at least the majority of your malware problems. If the problem still persists post a Hijack this log in this forum for the experts to analyze. If it has been 3 days and you haven't received help, post in the waiting room and someone will get to you.

Good luck,

Mike

Thank you.

I will move this but I noticed that the instructions are for Windows XP. Although my system is XP, the system I need to fix, my dad's is Vista. Do I just follow the same instructions?

And I don't know how to move this topic.
