My friends say I need a copy of Windows? Or do I just need the eMachines CD that came with my computer. (System Recovery CD)

I am in the process of consulting with our tech staff, I'll see if someone can walk you through this. I don't believe you can o this from the recovery CD.

As to your pictures, there is no guarantee unless you print them out and re-scan them. One option is to use an online printing service, one that will make prints from the file you send. You can try sending the files over the web to a local service and see if they can save the print files to a disk, but there is no guarantee with that.

Hang in there for a bit more.
