Hi everyone out there,
I've got a computer my brother set up, but I've lost total contact to him!
Now the computer has decided to crash and I don't know what to do.
I'm writing this mail from my laptop.
It all started when I wanted to print something and the printer window froze and nothing printed.
I restarted the computer and it seemed to be ok.
The next day my misses wanted to print and it still jammed.
Then it went further and the computer throughs up a message and switches off.
On restart it flashes in red "0 degraded nvidia raid5 14906g" and on the next line the same message with error !
After this it starts in save mode and another message comes up:
"The instructions at 0x0103d573 referenced memoy at 0x0103d573 the memory could not be written"
beneath that it gives you the options to terminate or debug the programm.
I think both will crash the computer. Closing the window keeps him a little longer alive.
What is wrong with my lovely computer?
Can he be fixed or need I purcaise a new sound card / motherboard?
Can some one please help me!
Thanks

This sounds like you have corrupted the drivers for the RAID setup on the hard drives. This can happen if you are using SATA hard drives.

I would try using the system file checker to fix the problem. ( it may not work but usually it does.

The main reason for using this utility is when you suspect there may be a problem with a Windows XP system file.

Perhaps you get a dialog box appear informing you of a problem with a .dll file, or your program will just not load! It is therefore worth checking to see if there are any corrupt system files using scannow sfc.

To do this simply go to the Run box on the Start Menu and type in:

sfc /scannow

This command will immediately initiate the Windows File Protection service to scan all protected files and verify their integrity, replacing any files with which it finds a problem.

You may need a Windows XP CD to fix the computer.

I see that you have been to the Nvidia forums looking for a answer. This is the best i can think of right now.

Hi SRX660
thank you very much for your reply,
just tried to run the scannow and the dammed thing crashed again after a minute.
what else can I do or do you need to know?
I know that my broth installed 3 harddrives, which are running in such a fashion, that when one is brocken, the complete data could be recovered from the two intact once, if that makes any sense.
also did he install a partition I think, and the system keeps a backup on the second virtual drive.
On top of this he linked a second computer to this one which takes a copy of this one every day, and also a copy of only the changes which happened, so that the data would be save.
would it be possible to travel back in time?
But I don't know how to access the backup computer.

Now I'm getting following massage:
Acrotray.exe -ENTRYPOINT NOT FOUND

The procedure entry point FxitProcess could not be located in the dynamic link library KERNELL32.dll

What does this mean?

Could you tell us what is the make and model of the motherboard installed in your computer? Is the computer bootable in safe mode?

Hi,
the motherboard is a ASUS M2NPV-VM

The computer starts (boots?) in save-mode automatically, but throughs up pretty immidiately the massage as described above.
And this message keeps reapearing constantly, when I'm trying to run scannow !

Now after it crashed again (imidiate shutdown) it started up again and does an automatic disc check (that's a first).
it says it got to check one of the discs for consistency.
found three corupted files and corrected the entries.
completed file verivication
CHKDSK is verifying indexes (stage 2 of 3) ...
correcting 2 errors in index
and now it seems stuck, is not making any noises anymore for the last minute or so.

Sorry it says actually:

CHKDSK is verifying files (stage1 of 3)...
File verification completed.
CHKDSK is verifying indexes (stage 2 of 3)...
Correcting error in index $130 for file 182402.
Correcting error in index $130 for file 182402.

Then nothing happens!

More than likely you will now have to do a repair install of XP.

Please try to be precise in your reporting. What error message are you getting: you mentioned one in your first post and another in your next post. One is related to Nvidia raid driver, the other to Adobe. These are entirely different things.

Can you boot in safe mode and run a stable computer? Avoid the chkdsk by canceling it when you see the message. You have several seconds to press any key.

Sorry about the confusion.
I'm switching the computer on
It flashes in red "0 degraded nvidia raid5 14906g" and on the next line the same message with error !
Then it carrys on loading and wants to do a disc check.
I bypass the disc check by pressing any buttom.
After this it starts in save mode and another message comes up:
"The instructions at 0x0103d573 referenced memoy at 0x0103d573 the memory could not be written"
beneath that it gives you the options to terminate or debug the programm.
I terminate this window by pressing ok.
Now another window pops up saying following:
Acrotray.exe -ENTRYPOINT NOT FOUND
The procedure entry point FxitProcess could not be located in the dynamic link library KERNELL32.dll
I click ok to close this window.
Next this messsage pops up:
winlogon.exe-Aplication Error
The instructions at 0x0103d573 referenced memoy at 0x0103d573 the memory could not be written
I click ok to terminate the program.
It shows me the previous message about KERNELL32.dell and crashes and restarts.
I bypass the disc check
It starts windows
Now the acrotry.exe message pops up again as above mentioned
I click ok
it reapears
I click ok for several times and it eventualy stays away
now it stays in Save mode with my desktop on view.
The computer crackles a little as it always does.

It's been half an hour and the computer is still running without error message!
I have not used it or run any programm on it.
only the things in the background like skype and active sync have been loading.

If any one can contribute to solving this, please do not hessitate posting a reply.
As I'm totaly unfamiliar with fixing computers, please ask questions should I not express myself properly and please do try to explain things in plain english if possible.

Thanks to everyone who wants to help reviving my poorly computer again.

Regards
