none of my games work help

All of my games worked until now so i reformatted my computer and all and when i played cod4 for like 5 min the game crashs and says "DirectX Error DirectX has encountered an unrecoverable error. Please check DirectX Help document for possible details." and this didnt happen when i bought the game which was a year. Also when i play like steam games and battlefield games it crashes too and this never happened along time ago but doesnt say that error how would i fix it. i did every possible thing out there like uninstall direct x and reinstall it and update graphics card and reformat the comp.

my computer info:
Intel®
Pentium® 4 CPU 3.00GHz
2.99GHz
1.00GB of RAM
Radeon x700 series

plz help me i dont wanna play games for like 5 min that crashes on me and restart my computer every single time!

Get the latest version of DirectX here

Your Radeon x700 drivers are here

Because I don't know the complete layout of your system, I would just choose option 2 for the ATI drivers.
